It also undermines the perceived value of Pirela and Refsynder.

Cashman is the Drew of the GMs....shitty batting avg, defends his job well and hits an occasional HR. Also once had a promising career....but never made the A list.

I think you lost me on this one - I'm sure the rest of the ML teams already have a detailed scouting report and evaluation on both of them.

Even I can chip in with an observation or two on them.
I would like to see Refsnyder get a good look at 2b before crunch time in late August and September and, it's a fairly sound assessment to say he can be a .270-.300 hitter with mediocre power at best, not alot of speed and despite his consistent good hitting in AAA his defense and instincts are probably still weak enough to offset his hitting enough to prevent the Yanks from putting him regularly at 2b.

Pirela is a free swinger, good speed, who needs alot of AT BATS at the ML level to get a better more true appreciation of what kind of "hitter" he is/ could be.

I couldn't agree more... It's like stating that you have zero faith in Refsnyder & therefore his trade value is lower...

...^^^ exactly. And it should be a simple concept to grasp.

...instead of letting Pirela or Refsnyder play, Cashman gives up 2 young players for Ackley, who's yet another 2Bman who cannot hit a lick instead of calling up Refsnyder/Pirela.

...that doesn't exactly inspire a lot of encouragement for the players themselves and does not help their value to other teams either. I mean how can you use either of those players in trade negotiations with other teams when those same teams are fully aware that you don't even think enough of those players to let them play?

...the Yanx now have 3 freaking 2Bmen. And if the idea is to let either Drew or Ryan go, they both now have even less trade value than they did before...bot now this late in the trade deadline Cashman will have to bend over and take it in the ass once again in order to get rid of either of them.

If the Yankees are not going to give the kids a chance they should have just used one or two of them to make a good deal because I just don't get this.
