about 90% of his minutes this year were post McMillan, so the post number wouldn't be that much higher than the 13.37. maybe 15ish.

I've always said, once D'Antoni gets to the playoffs his teams are screwed. You need to play defense in the playoffs if you want a chance to be a legit threat. I'm not content just being masters of the regular season.

Give me JVG over D'Antoni everyday and twice on Sundays.

He hasn't known how to run a semblance of defense his whole career. He'll admit that. His philosophy is to try and put the ball through the hoop and stretching the games to as many possessions as possible. Shooters have free reign whether they suck, or not. Its almost a gimmick.

The guy had an elite defender this year in tyson chandler.

He sucks and has nothing to show for his talented teams

Again, a really good roster. That's essentially a big 3 with Nash/Marion/Amare

Alvin Gentry took a Nash and Amare team to the WCF as well.

The key number for me with Babbitt is 46.8%, which is his 3-pt number.

Unless he's expected to be a primary scorer, his PER doesn't really bother me, and his Ortg of 109 is nice. His defense, though...

As we checked into the hotel an hour ago here in Memphis, I asked him if he knew he only needed 5 more 3s made to qualify for league rankings...... he smiled and said he would have no problem getting that with 3 games left! A little swag....... I like that!

I am more confident with Luke playing with additional minutes. He definitely looks more comfortable out there and less panicked on his roll, etc. His defense needs improvement but he is shooting the 3 ball which is something the team hasn't had a consistent 3 pt scorer in a long time. I will be happy to see him as a second unit getting decent minutes.

For the month of April (2011-2012 season)

Wesley Matthews hit 29 / 65 on 3's which is 44.61% at an average of 37 min per game.
Luke Babbitt hit 20 / 47 on 3's which is 42.55% at an average of 21 min per game.

Even though Babbitt had less playing time, and lessor FGM / FGM vs Matthews in total points, Babbitt's PER is going up and the amount of him hitting his 3 pointers were catching up to Matthews.

Now in terms of a diverse skill level and ball handling Matthews has more arsenal than Babbitt but for a 3 point shooter coming off the second unit Babbitt so far has a very low salary demand. He would be worth resigning playing the backup role behind Batum.
