I didn't see this posted here yet but thought it was quite worthy as it comes from our division.

"Sponsored by Brand Jordan"

Nobody else thought that was just straight cold to Utah? Could you imagine if Utah was replaced with Portland? This board would be blowing UP!

Utah/Denver is like the Iran/Iraq war to me, or a Cowboys/Eagles game. All I hope for is pain, bloodshed and a long stalemate.

Wow. I wonder what would happen if that commercial were done in Portland, but with Kobe instead of 'Melo.

Mass rioting? Buildings burned down?

Pretty amusing concept, though.

I remember when Adidas put a big billboard of Chobe on some big green building on the N side of I-84 a few years back, that thing was constantly being grafittized, until finally they took it down.

No comment! :ghoti:

That said, they had to see it on their way to the Rose Garden, that year--CLASSIC!

I just can't imagine being a Uath fan watching the Jazz play the Nugz on TV and all of a sudden that commercial came on not only bashing the team but also bashing the major religion out there. That was a huge slap on Mormons also, not that I really care.

I'm still not sure I quite understand the point this advertisement. It's Nike, right? Are the mocking Carmelo or actually praising him. And why would anyone troll the Utah fans on national TV?

It is a brand Jordan commercial and it was real confusing actually!

I think the point was to cause sports junkies to flock to message boards and ponder what the hell Nike was talking about.

Good thing that didn't work.

How was it a slap on Mormons?

Living in Idaho, I've seen a few ads over the years put on by the Mormons. Seems like a couple of them had fluffy white clouds. Then you've got rays of light coming out of the horizon and Carmello's head rising up like some kind of Monty Python-esque God....yeah, I can see how you might be offended if you're an uber-sensitive Mormon. They're really big on their American prophets and all (Joseph Smith, Brigham Young, etc). Implying that Carmello is a modern prophet in the land of Utah...

Mind you, I'm pretty much an atheist so I think it's all a bunch of silliness. On top of that, Carmello is black. They weren't even allowed to be priests until 1978. (How fucked up is that?)

People are too sensitive. :dunno:
