this thread is sorta sad

...its ok Chris, join the darkside, everybody makes mistakes

It is sad...for you. If 1977 proved anything, it was that a true team could beat a collection of superstars. Individually, the L*kers would be considered the better team. However, as Jack Ramsay showed, a team will beat a group of individuals every time.

Want more proof?

Western Conference Finals (4-0): Portland Trail Blazers over Los Angeles Lakers

Game 1 May 6 Portland Trail Blazers 121 Los Angeles Lakers 109
Game 2 May 8 Portland Trail Blazers 99 Los Angeles Lakers 97
Game 3 May 10 Los Angeles Lakers 97 Portland Trail Blazers 102
Game 4 May 13 Los Angeles Lakers 101 Portland Trail Blazers 105

Bill Walton walked out on the team. He shit on his coach, his team-mates, and the fans. Since the post Drexler era, he has never missed a chance to bad mouth the team.

Go away Big Red, and stay away. There is no room for you on this bandwagon.

(Yes, I'm bitter.)

That's partially true. When he left, there was a lot of bitterness. However, I had the chance to talk to him in the mid-90s and he said that those feelings were gone and he realized in retrospect how special that team, that city and Blazermania was.

It's interesting that Walton Jr. didn't mention the stacked Celtics team that his father played a reserve role on (although a more important one than his on the Lakers) who almost certainly WOULD eat the current Lakers for lunch (I have to think that there's too big a difference in athleticism between '77 teams and '09 ones - although the '77 Philly team was pretty stellar). Wasn't Luke a big Celtics fan as a kid?

That's because Big Bill was the sixth man on that amazing '86 team. Big Red was THE GUY on our 1977 team. He was the game's first point center. His passing ability out of the post has only been rivaled by another Blazer, Arvydas Sabonis.

I have never seen the locker room celebration. If anyone has it, share it somehow.

There's no way the locker room celebration could surpass the excitement of the 1977 Kemper Open.

If you have the locker room interviews that CBS would not air because the were pissed off at Harry Glickman, please post it for us. I've always appreciated to get good stuff onto You Tube. Well done and keep it coming.

Hey Big Q... do you have the 5/11/92 game against the Suns by any chance? That was one of the most exciting games I've ever seen. Do you remember the game I'm talking about (double OT, final score 151 to 153)?

If that is game 4 I have it in my hand right now.

I also have Blazers/Lakers, games 2 and 4
Blazers/Nuggets, game 5
Blazers/Sixers, games 5 and 6

Maybe a mod would like to sticky a thread where we can dump a bunch of Blazers related videos/links that we have to share and can be stored in one place. Also, for those of us that have game tapes/dvd's, we can list them and share them. Eventually someone will appear with the locker room celebration that was pre-empted by the Kemper Open.

Yup, that's the one! I met Jerome a few years ago and mentioned the game to him. He nodded his head solemnly and said, "That was a gooooood game".

I seriously almost had a stroke watching it.

Good idea. There's one stickied now, so feel free to post links in it.
