I won't rule out the possibility that I'm forgetting an artist or two, but I honestly feel that rap from Atlanta is whats killing hip hop now a days. The mecca of southern hip hop is in North Carolina.

Every regions killing hip-hop.

Nah I wouldn't say that. There's a lot of good artists based in Chicago who are still doing good things (Common, Lupe et al), and everybody out of the Justus League from N. Carolina is golden (Median, Strange Fruit Project, Little Brother, 9th, Nicolay). Then all around the nation there are artists who are still putting out good music. I just can't think of anyone off the top of my head who's keeping hip hop from being a joke in Atlanta. The epitome of what's wrong with hip hop is coming out of that area. Now to clarify, I don't particularly like the bay area rap, but that's more culturally based and so I accept it. But rims, grills, rappers with ZERO lyrical skills, chains, and b*tches are glorified in southern rap and its pretty painful to watch and listen to.
