Head.....................................................................................................meet wall.

Hey look, if you want to believe that the twenty odd million made from ticket sales is important to the Steins, please by all means delude yourself.

it'd be interesting, but you'd probably be getting rid of Iwakuma. Not that that's a huge deal for me (especially if we're getting Max), but adding another 17ish million to the payroll (max-kuma) would be pretty unprecedented after Cruz.

Maybe, but with the A's retooling and the Angels/Rangers standing pat, could be the piece they need.

Are you doing this on purpose? We're not talking about JUST ticket sales. Also when you throw in parking & concessions we're talking about a shit load more then just $20M

You know what Tom, the hell with it. I think we'd have better luck teaching algebra to a 3 year old then trying to make you see how ridiculous your general statement of fans not being necessary actually sounded.

...uhhh, no, that's not right.

...lmao...again, do you really think they Steins would be willing to just flush that money?

...I've been trying to get that through his head....you can't simply count ticket prices alone.

Yeah well your selective hearing and lack of reading comprehension puts you in the 3yr old algebra class yourself.

I know that link, thanks. Again tix/general attendance is 5% of the revenue for the Yankees. The seats can be full or empty. Season fix and suites are already bought and paid for. You buying a 100/500 seat and eating/drinking is inconsequential. Fuck!

...lol...I'll ask you for the THIRD time... concerning this supposed "inconsequential" money you keep referencing; ...do you think the Steins would be willing to flush it down the toilet?

...and why do you keep discounting the other revenues taken in at games?...sorry, it's a package deal and it's a helluva lot more than "$20 Mil".

...you might also want to reread you own Forbes link; "A drop in ticket revenue last season resulted in overall revenue falling by $10 million from 2012, ...."

...you might also want to reread your earlier post (#40); " Yanks annual revenue is $461M. Doing the math, there is another $120M not accounted, that must include stadium and merchandize revenue."

Yanks get $350-400M/yr from the YES sale and another $100M from the cable deal. If you can show me where general attendance related revenue are more than 5-10% on their PnL then I'll retract my inconsequential label.

The only time butts in the seats make a financial impact are for playoff runs. The rest of the season its tertiary revenue behind ancillary business revenue and media related revenue.

I'm done discussing this point, so please flame away as per usual.

Of course you're done Tom because no one agrees with you. So yeah, let it go, you're starting to embarrass yourself.

...well, I'm glad we finally went from "5%" to "10%"...which is actually a very good annual profit margin, especially when we're talking about 10% of roughly $500,000,000.00 dollars.

...never did get an answer to my question though. ...sigh.

In comparison to the other revenue sources, attendance money is a very small %. Look, maybe to you and your biz that's important, but to billion dollar businesses the Pareto Rule applies. That is as simple as I can make this point.

That and I challenge Rick's casual linkage of player salary to ticket prices. If anything, tix price is a function of operating costs and revenue sharing.

Tom, "The Pareto Rule" your not making making Pareto Charts again are you? That's ok, I've always preferred Power Point over Excel. Wouldn't a PIE chart create more transparency? LOL....!

Tom-can you clarify what you mean on the use of "the pareto rule" please?

80/20 for those in Rio Linda

Dude...one long term cable deal is a shit load easier than pandering 81 home games. I understand you can't accept the fact that the steins could care less about regular season home crowds that aren't in luxury boxes, but the evidence says I'm right.

And Rick I'll fucking speak me mind all fucking day long....you set the perfect embarrassment model.

...lol, that post and convo was a week ago but whatever.

...and no, the "evidence" does not say your right. We're talking about a lot of money here. Instead of tap dancing around the question I have now asked 4 times, why not actually answer it and end this argument?...it case you missed it, here it is again (copied from post # 69 above);

"I'll ask you for the THIRD time... concerning this supposed "inconsequential" money you keep referencing; ...do you think the Steins would be willing to flush it down the toilet?"

By flush it do you mean keep tix prices high and not try to alter things to maximize attendance? If so then I think I answered your question all 3 times.

Yes....inconsequential,.....its incidental income. Individual game/seat sales are the second lowest hanging fruit next to merchandize. The Steins aren't paying attention to that part of the business. They are happy to take the cash as long as it doesn't require work or effort.

Without the color text or bolding, why can't you see this? 80% of their revenue comes from 2 deals....that's their focus. After that its advertising and licensing deals and then luxury boxes. The rest, gen admission/Con sessions they don't pay attention to that.

Now for teams that don't have big top end revenue, their 80/20 cut goes deeper at tix sales becomes more important. This is pretty simple business philosophy.

...uhh, no, you have not answered the question. You've danced around it.
...but that's pretty much what I expected...you damn well what I mean by "flush"...(throw it away)...does that now make a simple question easier for you?

...and oh, now it's gone from "inconsequential" to "incidental" income...it's still income, but you're coming around.

...has ANYONE in this inane thread disputed the fact that most of the Yanx's revenue comes from TV deals?...ANYONE? But you claiming that the income from the fans at the ballpark don't matter is asinine. Again, we're talking about "A LOT" of money.

Now for teams that don't have big top end revenue, their 80/20 cut goes deeper at tix sales becomes more important. This is pretty simple business philosophy.

...for about the third time, income is income and it goes to the bottom line. (this is "simple business accounting philosophy")
...if the money taken in at the ballpark does not matter, why don't they simply open the gates for free and give away beer, food, etc.?...(I'm sure I won't get a valid answer to that question either)

WHOA! easy there sparky, WTF? Unless you've been drying out I haven't commented on this topic in a week, where the hell did this come from? but again it's you, so I shouldn't be surprised.

What the heck did I just miss...

No big deal Steve as myself & others through PMs have noticed, over the last few months Tom has turned into a sanctimonious pompous ass with an ego the size of Texas. Hopefully eventually he'll snap out of it & return to the good poster he use to be. But who knows maybe someday I could be as right about SOME things as he is about EVERYTHING.

So, how about those 5-34 Knicks?

I loathe basketball, but even more so the knicks

Turned into? Lmfao! Holy shit, the question here who isn't a pompous ass?

Its a message board, everyone expresses their opinions. But god forbid someone takes a distinctively different view on a minority of topics.

But let's just toss the baby out with the bath water.

Agree to disagree and move on.

Works for me. No harm no foul. We all forgive you :-)
