"If you occasionally buy this product, please kindly resend this letter to the World Human Right Organization. Thousands people here who are under the persicution of the Chinese Communist Party Government will thank and remember you forever."
The graveyard kit, the letter read, was made in unit 8, department 2 of the Masanjia Labor Camp in Shenyang, China.

Chinese characters broke up choppy English sentences.

"People who work here have to work 15 hours a day without Saturday, Sunday break and any holidays. Otherwise, they will suffer torturement, beat and rude remark. Nearly no payment (10 yuan/1 month)."

Ten yuan is equivalent to $1.61.

"People who work here, suffer punishment 1-3 years averagely, but without Court Sentence (unlaw punishment). Many of them are Falun Gong practitioners, who are totally innocent people only because they have different believe to CCPG. They often suffer more punishment than others."

Totally worth the cheap consumer goods. fuck yeah

when there is literally no other way to access the internet besides devices constructed by overseas sweatshops, we all get a temporary free pass.

Fascinating. I wonder if it's true. If so, it's kind of chilling to think of the conditions and so forth those people live under. If not, what a great way for a union to make inroads.

As the specific location is given, I would think an investigation should be not all too difficult. It also makes me think twice about buying anything made in China.

That shit is true, without a doubt. http://www.bloomberg.com/slideshow/2012-03-30/inside-apple-s-foxconn-factory.html#slide9 don't think Mac/Apple is the only offender in need of these.

That's where deregulation takes you. China needs to stop using policies copied from our Republican party. China needs more OSHA-like rules in the workplace, enforced upon owners and managers. Am I right, Republicans?

(Heh heh heh...)

I just wrote the same note as above in a box of cookies and left them in the lobby. We're being persecuted in Beverly Hills as well! :MARIS61:

what those chinese peeps need is a good union to bargain collectively for them

of course, that means instant death by firing squad, so oh well

Its part of the culture. Lots of white guilt in this thread. :MARIS61:

i didnt know whining was a part of their culture, suck it up, daddy needs a new pair of shoes

All that separates US from them is The 2nd Amendment.

I am using an HP. Who do you keep referring to, yourself?

Thread starter complaining about chinese labor practices posting these complaints on their macbook. Hoojacks seems like he would use apple products.

Okay, I never saw anything from another user about using a macbook air.

Reminder: these Chinese people hate you

That's their problem. Just because they are misguided doesn't mean I am happy about their shitty situation.

I don't use Apple products, no. But I can see how someone might think I'm some insufferable hipster, so it's a common mistake.

Accepting how the world works and actively not giving a shit about injustice that you support are two very different things.

That is actually pretty cool, thanks. However, my point still remains:

Are Lotus PCs made from foreign components?
It is simply impossible to manufactuer a computer made entirely of US-origin parts, much like cars or other complex products. In fact, it's virtually impossible to build computers with non-Chinese components. Our systems are a product of today's global market, where a single computer could be made from parts produced in a dozen factories, in several countries (including the USA). However, the our PCs are still put together here.

The fact is that the majority of electronics contain coltran, the majority of which comes from slave mines in the DRC. The component parts are then assembled in China or Taiwan via sweatshop labor. It's nice that a company like the above exists and is supporting American labor and local economies, but there is no getting around the injustice that goes into building our electronics (all electronics, not just apple products.)
