Colbert was saying exactly the same stuff the conservative politicians were saying. His whole schtick was just saying it with faux outrage, otherwise it was still just as incomprehensible and outrageous as what the actual politicians were saying.

The irony is that now his schtick wouldn’t work these days because there are actual politicians doing what he did… they are just doing it in a non-mocking way. I remember back in the day a lot of my friends parents, who I am sure are now MAGA idiots, used to eat his whole schtick up hooklike and sinker. They used to love him as they actually thought he was conservative, and loved his outrage. It was brilliant at the time, now it’s just sad.

Someone who knows how to make these things could make a fortune branding a gun magazine the MAGAzine with trumps ugly face branded all over it. Other side of the MAGAzine needs to say FUCK YOUR FEELINGS or DONT TREAD ON ME.

Yeah, I'm sure that's it. I never really watched him, I've seen clips of him, not really a fan of him personally.

He was indeed an overexaggerated version of the right, so that the left can do what they love to do best and that's be elitist and condescending.
