The Maine Red Claws (9-12) used a balanced scoring attack to get back into the win column, ending a four game losing streak on Saturday night in front of a sell-out crowd at the Portland Expo Building as they downed the Erie BayHawks (6-15), 115-92. Maine never trailed in the contest.
Maine began the contest with a couple of quick baskets from Damen Bell-Holter on his way to eight points in the quarter and they never looked back, riding the hot shooting of Chris Babb (six) and Abdul Gaddy (seven). The BayHawks kept the game close, with former Red Claw Justin Brownlee throwing in ten, and six apiece from Alex Oriakhi and former Red Claw Ricky Davis to close out the quarter with a 29-25 Maine lead. The Red Claws opened the second quarter with a 16-4 run led by Frank Gaines, Marcel Anderson and Babb to extend their lead to 46-30 at the midway point of the quarter, and traded baskets to close out the half with a 60-45 lead.

The balanced attack continued for Maine in the third as Babb (eight), Gaddy (five), Ty Walker, Sherwood Brown and Gaines each tossed in five in the quarter. Erie got seven more from Brownlee and five from Mustafa Shakur, but Maine was able to run their lead to 27, going into the final quarter with a 91-65 lead. Erie would get six more from Oriakhi and four each from Brownlee, Nick Covington and Terrence Jennings, but Bell-Holter's nine in the quarter and five from Brown closed out the win for the Red Claws.

The BayHawks were led by Brownlee's 26 points, while also getting solid efforts from Oriakhi (17 points, nine rebounds), Shakur (17 points, five rebounds, five assists), Davis (nine points, five rebounds, four assists), Jennings (nine) and Covington (eight).

The Red Claws were led by Bell-Holter, with a career-high 24 points to go along with five rebounds and five assists. Other key contributors in the win were Gaines with a double-double (18 points, 10 rebounds), Babb (17 points, five rebounds), Gaddy (14 points, five assists), Brown (13 points, seven rebounds) and Walker (11 points, nine rebounds).

Maine will travel to Canton, Ohio for a Monday matinee with the Charge.
