Marbury Wants All His Money From Knicks

After being treated like an outcast for the entire season to date, Stephon Marbury is not about to do the New York Knicks any financial favors.

According to the New York Daily News, Marbury reiterated Friday that he is not giving up any of his $21.9 million salary, which is something that chairman James Dolan does not want to do.

When asked about possibly taking less from the Knicks, Marbury said to a reporter, "If I owed you $100 and I said I'm going to give you $80 what would you say?"

According to one team source, Marbury and GM Donnie Walsh have met at least four times since the start of the season but Thursday's sit-down was the first time that Marbury had been accompanied by lawyers.

To be honest, I can't blame him. The Knicks have treated him like shit all season, so why help them out? Wouldn't make too much sense to me.

In the end though, if he really wants out (which I assume he does), he's likely going to have to make some type of compromise financially. Unless of course he wants to chill on the bench all year, never play, and make his boatload of cash....then I guess he can continue to demand the full amount.

I agree. Marbury has done absolutely nothing to distract the team and he's better than a lot of the guys playing (Collins, Roberson, etc.).

I don't see it as a selfish move if he wants all of the money he is entitled to.

In comparison to this contract, it's his last "big" payday. But in theory...he's still going to get a solid deal in this upcoming offseason, probably around the MLE...which is, by all standards, a boatload of money. It just pales in comparison to what he's making now.

Blame the guy who offered him the contract. I never liked Starbury as a player, but he is in the right on this one.

The owner should shoot himself for being a stupid and gave Isaiah too much power and too much time as a GM. Should've fired his whole staff with the first slip up. Oh well.

Seems like he's making amends with D'antoni, but he still gotta pay the guy what he's due if he wants all the $$$. I wouldn't mind sitting on the bench all season if I was Marbury. I would kick a baby for that kinda money and have the best seat in the house every night watching bball games.
