Marc Jackson Nets' 6th man?

Well now that the roster is fully set with the addition of Murray & Padgett..its clear to say imo, Marc Jackson is the most important player on our roster, outside of the starting 5.....with our starting bigs Collins & Krstic prone to foul trouble, Jackson takes on a big minute role..and basically moves into 6th man status..........Iam wondering how you guys feel about this...Jackson is a quality player but I have my concerns...he has been a bit inconsistent in his career..if the Nets get a Marc Jackson that plays somewhere between the way he played in Philly & his standout year in Golden State then I think the Nets get a quality guy in the 6th man role...but if the Nets get the Marc Jackson that was with the Timberwolves a couple of seasons ago then the Nets are in trouble imo...also I have my concerns about handing such an important role to a guy with Jackson's injury history....Anyway, what is your feeling on Marc Jacson in the Nets' 6th man role?

I think that it is a good role for him. If he plays well, then he should average somewhere around 25 minutes per game. If Collins and Krisitic continue to wind up in foul trouble all of the time like last year then I think that Jackson coming off of the Bench will be a very good thing. If all goes well he will also be able to come off of the bench and score some points. I personally feel that Jackson is a starter in the league (definitly not among the best, but not too shabby. His size is the best thing that he will provide.

Talking of sixth men, I do not think that it is good to forget that McInnis is one the team. If he ends up being able to play well I think the we might see a good 20 minutes from him. For now, yes, I have to agree that Jackson is the sixth man. I heard Lawrence Frank comment that this year's team will have tough big men. If he succeeds at such a claim, then Jackson is definitly a big part of the thoughness.

I think Jackson could flourish backing up our bigs as a 6th man. He won't have the pressure or fatigue of playing 30-35 minutes, and could be more effective as a backup than a starter.

I think he could really help us on the boards off the bench, and he could be switched with Krstic if we need a better defensive presence(not saying he's a great defender, but definently better than Nenad right now). Hopefully, he'll be consistent and won't get injured in his 20 min. per game.

On the subject of McInnis; if he can become a consistent player and dump his attidude problems, then he will be a quality backup for Kidd, and a solid starter if Kidd gets injured.

When we first aquired McInnis, I was thinking he was our sixth man....but that was when I was thinking he would see serious minutes at both backcourt spots....now I dont think that is the case....Kidd will play about 35 minutes a game...so McInnis will probably only play about 13-15 minutes per game because with Wright & Murray now on board, I dont think that he will see many minutes as a backup two unless one of those guys play horribly or gets injured

Here is the breakdown of minutes on a regular basis as I see it right now....

Kidd(33-35mpg)/McInnis(13-15mpg)
Carter(35-37mpg)/Wright(11-13mpg)
Jefferson(38-40mpg)/Murray(8-10mpg)
Collins(28mpg)/Scott Padgett(12-15mpg)/Robinson(5-8mpg)
Krstic(28-30mpg)/*Marc Jackson(18-20mpg)

Marc Jackson likely ends up playing 5-7 more minutes then that....Vaughn, Linton Johnson and Planinic are insurance players, wont be apart of the game to game rotation.

^^ i doubt mciness will only get 13-15 min. im sure that they offered him time cause i doubt he would come in as a backup with his ego and only want to play 13-15 min just my 2 cents

They may have promised that when he first signed or agreed to sign..but the roster has changed alot..and with changes come different roles then expected. I cant see Kidd playing any less then 33 minutes per game..if we want to win. And his(McInnis) two guard minutes got taken away once we got Murray cause now Wright has been moved strictly to being a two guard. So where are these add minutes going to come from unless someone gets hurt. I think McInnis accepts the limited role and walks next year, which is a option year

we mite use murray as one of those guys who comes in at like the last min of each quarter to get a few points cause his shot is nice
