The solace of every major Oregon sports team that fails on the big stage. "They played hard and got SOOOOOO close! Good for them!"

It's been 38 years since I've been able to say anything else.
This is so fucking true...If they ever wrote a book about Oregon sports it would be in the title... "They played hard"

To be fair in basketball sweet 16 or elite 8 is about the max at the moment, winning it all is a long ways down the road. Football they're extremely close and I wouldn't be surprised to see them in the championship game next season again. We're still Oregon. We don't have a huge base of talent, it's really a blessing to be as good as we are now.

Young Westbrooked Oregon out of the game.

Yep. Dude wouldn't pass.

You have to have someone to pass it too. Other than Joe only Abdul Bassitt was hitting tonight and unfortunately he can't dribble without tuning it over. So unless he is wide open...it doesn't work out well. I get that some of you have not seen many Oregon games this year so you will have to trust me when I say....he passed too much tonight. Oregon getting this far with the talent they had this year was nothing short of a coaching miracle. Young played almost every minute of every game because they were horrible without him on the court.

Great season from the Ducks. It saved Altman's job and stuck it to Canzano who campaigned to have him fired. The team has a great recruiting class coming in which should mesh with this one. Tyler Dorsey could be a great one! GO DUCKS!

They do have 3 excellent recruits coming in. Dorsey, Manuel and Small all look very good.

The recruiting class isn't finished yet. Altman has a couple of other prospects interested and will probably go after another big body since Chandler and Sorkin are so skinny.

Sorkin will add weight but will be a stretch 4. Chandler as the size but the knee injury caused him all mobility. Can he come back from it? I hear different reports.

I agree that Dana is not done. He will add two more. one big and one more wing.

How someone can be from the Northwest and not be rooting for the Zags is beyond me. Especially with a Sabonis doing work.

A Portland boy as the leading scorer. Gotta love it.

You always posting about anything and everything Gonzaga probably doesn't endear them to people on this board. For me, I'm rooting for them to make the final four, but there's just other teams I like more. Kinda like saying people should root for Eastern Washington because its PNW. Yeah, there's proximity, but it doesn't necessarily mean you need to care, let alone root for them.

Lemme guess. You're pulling for Kentucky.

This

I find it odd that some people say that they should cheer for all PNW teams in this situation or that, but then if Seattle cheers for Portland in a sport (Like the Blazers) or Portland cheers for Seattle in a sport (Mariners or Seahawks) Then they are "fairweather" and should "root for someone else."

Right? However I will never root for a Fuskies team no matter what. Not even if Brandon Roy Jr plays for them.

Yeah, see that's different. That's a rivalry. Portland doesn't have a baseball team or football team, so in essence, they are a "free agent". With basketball, I can kinda understand if Seattle wants to hold a grudge on Portland because they had a rivalry when the supersonics were there, but they themselves are "free agents".

I don't think Seattle gives a flying fuck about the NBA. If we're being truly honest NFL and MLB are better overall products and Seattle has two really good teams (three if you count MLS as a major sport). Portland would be fucked if we didn't have the Blazers though...

I have a bunch of acquaintances in Seattle that love bball. They still follow Okc some, but more or less are just fans of the nba now and watch players they like. They don't really seem to care about Portland or Aldridge or lillard.

I will never root for anything from Seattle. The town is over 100 miles away. And I remember growing up when Don James was at UW and Husky fans treated Oregon fans like dogshit. There has always been a cultural rivalry between the two cities. They probably view having to watch the the Trail Blazers as "beneath" them. Screw the Huskies. Screw the Hawks. And Screw the Mariners. Have fun losing to Ducks next year, Fuskies.
