That's exactly what Marcus did in this game.

He made smart decisions, kept the mistakes to a minimum (made less than Kidd usually does), and took what the defense gave him.

He even made a good defensive play in the OT.

I even saw him smile at Michele Beadle!

Good effort, good attitude. Even said the first positive words I've ever heard out of his mouth about Frank.</div>
Just turned 22...the kid has a lot of potential...there's a reason he was so hyped in the draft...he play's big in big situations...people need to get on this bandwagon...no reason he shouldn't be getting 30 mins a game...

When Harris is healthy they don't have 30 minutes to give him.

Why does he need 30 minutes to play well? Can't he come in for 20 minutes and do what he did tonight and help the team win?
</div>

well, if he gets 25 points in 20 minutes, that'd be fine with me.

Our backups in the back court suddenly look pretty good with Marcus and Hassel showing up today. If we can just get Boki to bring his game back from last season, we could have a really strong bench. and I stand by my statement that we could see a back court of Marcus and Harris at the 1 and 2 in the future, I think they'd work well together. Marcus should definitely get some minutes after Devin gets back, I could even see him start the first few.

In a weird way, this Devin injury is a blessing in disguise. The 2 weeks he will be out will give Nets management a good chance to see what MWill can do. This is his opportunity to prove his worth to the club.

The Kidd trade opens up more playing time for Marcus,so i expect him to play 20+mins nights in and nights out.

I'm gonna come at you like a spider monkey!

Gotta love what he's brought this game. I have some hope for him still. He played defense with some intensity, and actually showed he knows what the word defense means.

Some of his passes were just brilliant, and the way you shot - well, damn, you woulda thought you were watching a natural shooter out there! I was EXTREMELY impressed with that. His form, the way he stayed even and lined up with the basket. I was surprised at how good he shot this game.

Now, I'm just hoping for some consistency. If he can bring us at least 12-15 ppg, IMO, that'd be ideal.

If Harris and Marcus can stay on the court together for around 7 minutes a game and Devin plays 30 mins a game (his average) then there is no reason to say Marcus can't get 25 mins a night...

I will say that I think Marcus is better served as a starter...he is definately a player who needs to get in a rhythm in order to be effective...I think that's why his numbers suck when he gets shitty mins...

Good for him. He's gotten a lot of criticism. If he suddenly blossomed with the absence of Kidd, it will really provide a boost, and add additional questions about the effect that Kidd was having on the team and the locker room.

I'm glad he can still perform but I'd rather see devin harris in the starting lineup. MW might be terrible against the pacers.

That's just an excuse.

He hasn't earned the starter's role, so he better learn how to make the team better off the bench.

Kinda nutty the guy gets almost 1/3 of his production on the season in a single game.

Kinda nuttier that people are going off on it either.

Anyone remember summer league last year? Pre-Season vs the Knicks. Regular-Season vs the Suns?

Jason Collins just grabbed 10 boards and 8 points in limited minutes too. Was he making a statement?

Lets try to wait more than 39 minutes before proclaiming him a HOFer please.

some of the posts on this thread about tradin marcus becuz he will be a backup to Harris remind me of a similiar thread on giants forums about Shockey and Boss

having 2 young point guards with a bright future doesnt mean u should trade one becuz he'll be a backup. The backup pg position is important in the nba, you need to have a good backup pg that will manage the game efficiently while your starter gets some rest. Look at it as a good problem to have with marcus and harris, and like marc jackson said at times you can play them together

this team has a young bright future with a good core of young players in harris, swat, boone, marcus, rj, nenad

As well as Marcus is doing I don't think that we should give him the starting role. You have to put confidence in one of the point guards in letting him know that this is him team from here on out and it was clear we traded for Harris to be our future. Even if Marcus goes for 50 next game I think you have to give Devin the start as soon as he comes back and let him knows that he starts with a fresh slate and can reinvent himself as a player. Marcus is a quality backup but I'm not sure he will be happy with the backup role. I don't mean he won't be happy so he will play harder and give Harris a run for his money, I mean he won't be happy and won't really be into the game. It will hurt his ego. As much as I hate to say it I think we gotta trade him.
