<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>anyone heard last game, when someone asked isahia who was the best defender from all the guards he has... his answer: MARDY COLLINS</div>Question: what is the biggest deficiency in the knicks' play? what do they struggle executing night in and night out? why do the knicks fall behind by so much? why did the wizards shoot 14-20 from three?Answer: they don't play defense.this has been a problem for some time now and it boggles my mind why nba basketball players can't play defense. now I wish I could send this thread to isiah thomas because I don't know if he really does have a clue of who to play but isiah, you need to play mardy collins. I don't know how many of you guys were listening to the crowd during the game when marbury entered in the 4th quarter. it was something we've been accustomed to hearing since last season, BOOES. you know what else I heard, cheers. except the cheers were not for marbury, they were for mardy collins, our rookie pg of the future (at least in my opinion). he impressed me and I think the garden crowd knew what they were doing. mardy I think knew they were cheering too. I know it was garbage time but in 4 minutes of play he scored 7 points and got to the free throw line 4 times. now I don't know if they were sarcastic cheers but they were still cheers nevertheless. it was as if he could do no wrong and the fans were behind mardy, unlike marbury. I also liked what I saw from him defensively, obviously. he was getting low and in the players face, something marbury and francis don't do. collins should be getting burn because of his defensive ability alone. that's why maggette isn't starting in LA. quinton ross who is a really good defender is starting over him because he plays defense. I'm saying to start collins but some minutes would be beneficial.now I haven't seen collins play a lot but what I've heard over and over again is that he is a very good defender. he's also from temple coached by john chaney so collins has certainly been well coached and disciplined. that quote by isiah thomas I hope is an indication that collins is going to get more minutes because I really believe that if we have a pg that can play defense we will be a good team. I just really thought it was interesting when collins hit his first bucket he received a loud cheer. isiah, play this man because you said it, he's your best defensive guard. put him out there if you wanna save your job.
