He's going straight to "My Mammy"

Re: OT: Boozer to opt out of final year!!!

I'm not surprised at all. This time he isn't going against his work like he did with Cleveland. I really think that he would want to stay in Utah, but if he wants a huge raise how can he expect them to keep the core of the team together. Boozer to me seems to care so much more about money than winning.

You think Boozer is going to win a title in Salt Lake?

You think Boozer is going to win a title in Salt Lake?

So is this what you do now? Follow me from thread to thread and disagree with everything I say? Are you, Trench, and Lost One working for the same anti-Jurassic company?

Man.....the enjoyment of this community is quickly going down the toilet and I'm just about sick of it. :sigh:

Re: OT: Boozer to opt out of final year!!!

They will trade him before they let him walk for free.

Re: OT: Boozer to opt out of final year!!!

"I'm opting out. No matter what, I'm going to get a raise regardless"

I found it pretty amusing how he just flat out admitted it to the media. I mean, focus on the season first before you start talking about the offseason!

Why would anyone want to pay anything of value for Boozer after he publicly admits that he's going to opt out no matter what? Makes no sense to me.

What would be REALLY funny, is if Boozer leaves, then some team with mucho capspace like Memphis offers a ridiculous amount of money for Millsap, and then Millsap leaves too because the Jazz owner doesn't want to go into lux tax. :biglaugh:

I am asking a legitimate question. Do you think Boozer will win a title in Salt Lake? YOU said he only cared about money.

I barely know how "Jurassic" is, I just saw a comment to debate.

De we want Boozer?

It appears Carlos Boozer will be available next summer. He's announced that no matter what he is opting out of his contract with Utah. We have the cap space. We can sign him. We could also send RLEC to Utah in a sign and trade, and then move LA for a small forward or a point guard.

Paul Milsap is at the end of his rookie deal. He'll be a restricted free agent this summer.

Either one of these guys would bring a more physical presence to the Blazers than LA provides.

Re: OT: Boozer to opt out of final year!!!

hope he goes to Miami, want Utah to suffer for a few seasons like we had to.

Re: De we want Boozer?

I thnk I would want Boozer over LMA at this point.

Re: OT: Boozer to opt out of final year!!!

If we want to look at another PF other than LaMarcus, I'd look at the very available Amare Stoudemire before Carlos Boozer.

Re: OT: Boozer to opt out of final year!!!

Yes....in a couple years.

The team they have now has everything needed for a championship. Look at their squad....they even have one of the most brilliant, experienced coaches in the business. They have quality players like Harpring, and AK off the bench. That said, some of the fat could be trimmed off of this team. A lot of these guys are young and completely raw. They aren't hurting the team, but they aren't specialist in any area and don't really do much but finish after getting a dish from Deron.

There's no reason they can't win a ring in the next 3 years if they stay together and get along.

Re: De we want Boozer?

Too many chiefs....

They both average 15.4 shots/game over the last two years. The only difference is that Boozer gets to the FT more often and rebounds better.

LMA wins on defense IMO, however.

Re: De we want Boozer?

what have I heard said so much on this board that I happen to agree with and have been saying also? something about a cake in the oven or something? Let it finish.

Why would they suffer without Boozer? Millsap IS Boozer. I swear, they play the same way, put up similar stats, were drafted in similar spots in the draft, the list goes on and on.

The Jazz should let Boozer go, but they MUST hang on to Millsap. It would be a grave mistake if they let him slip to another team just because they gave a big offer. I'd pay 9-12 million/year for Millsap, and I'm not kidding. He's that good.

Re: De we want Boozer?

I'd like to keep LMA and somehow get Millsap as his backup. That would be awesome.

So I see you have a picture of Zbo for your avy, nice.

Impossible. Millsap is arguably better than LMA, and I'm saying this as LMA's biggest fan. He's worth a lot of money and should be getting starter minutes. No way he'd get it here.

With that said, I wouldn't trade LMA for Boozer or Millsap. I've grown attached to him, plus he fits better with the team.

Re: OT: Boozer to opt out of final year!!!

I'd look at the very available Amare Stoudemire before Carlos Boozer.

Amare will be very available in 2010, with enormous competition to sign him.

I doubt the Suns would trade him. He's definitely their franchise...I'm sure they'll try to re-sign him in 2010, as they'll be the team that can offer him the most money. By then, there won't be any question of "who's team it is," since Nash will be out of the picture or a shadow of his prime and Shaq will be gone.

Little weird to announce this kind of stuff at this point in the season by Boozer. I hope he can feed his family on that $12 mil per a year he's getting. I feel sorry for the guy that he needs a big raise in order to survive. Puh-lease....

I'd let the idiot walk. Millsap is a big-time player, and is only getting better. As much as I'd love Millsap on our team, he'd deserve more than a back-up role to LaMarcus and Greg. I bet Utah gives him that $9-10 mil per and lets Boozer walk to get out of poverty.

At first I thought Boozer was sending a message that he doesn't want to be traded (because the message to other teams is that he's going to opt out at the end of the season - so why trade for him). But it might be the reverse - he's signaling that he'll take the most money, whoever it comes from - and the most money will come from whatever team owns his bird rights. So he's basically saying trade for me, offer me a max contract, and I'm yours.

Then again, maybe he's just saying what's on his mind w/o any strategic plan whatsoever.

I really cannot believe I am seeing people say they would rather have Boozer then LMA. That is heartbreaking. Could you imagine seeing poor LMA in a Jazz jersey? I couldn't do that to him.

Boozer is way too injured and plays less D than LaMarcus. I'd like to see him leave for the East and hurt the Jazz by his departure, but they seem to be doing just fine w/o him now anyway.

I would love to have Millsap on this team... he's just so tough and scrappy around the basket. Boozer is good, but I think he is one of those players who has been and will always be fighting injury and missing games. Booze is not as good a defender as Millsap either...

The Jazz have to figure out if they can win with Milsap as their PF in place of Boozer. For all the great offense Boozer brings, he's not known as a particularly great defender. That seems quite contrary to Sloan's philosophy.

Milsap's been a solid double double guy in Boozer's absence (14.5/8.8 for the season). And he cares about defense, or so it seems.

If the Jazz don't have to pay Boozer, let alone pay him even more than the ~$13M he makes now, it frees up a lot of dough to pay Williams and others. Without Boozer, it should open up more opportunities for guys like Okur and Brewer. Plus guys you mentioned like AK47 and Harpring seem capable of bigger contributions than they're making now - at both ends of the floor.

But can they really win a ring? Cleveland is on the rise and will have big cap space even after re-signing LeBron. The Lakers and Celtics might be way over the hill 3 years from now leaving a void for some team to step up as real contenders - it could be the Jazz in the West, but you also have to consider Portland (obviously) and maybe Memphis who have a fantastic young core of players in Mayo and Gay and even Gasol.

What Utah seems to lack is the 2nd and 3rd guys who you'd consider among the very best in the league - the Celtics have 3 such guys and the Lakers 3 or 4.
