What exactly were Buchanan & Born thinking?!

Maybe they had begun divesting the team of the injury-risky players they'd acquired.

It was a financial decision, and was more about getting rid of Marty's contrazct and clearing up room for Nic, than it was about Babbitt. I was fine with it at the time of the draft. I'm fine with it now.

I'll replace Matthews and more Nic instead of Marty.. unfortunately.. Roy taking out of that equation hurts it.

Matthews > Webster.

Webster has been killing it this year though with the Wolves.

yeah matthews over webster everyday and twice on sunday.

however roy being hurt gives the blazers a big F.U.

Martell averaged 12.3 PPG 3.2 RPG 1.0 APG and 2 TOs per game in preseason...

Webster would be getting 10 mpg if he was healthy.

Batum and Matthews are both better players. Who cares about Babbitt right now? At least he won't complain about PT that he doesn't deserve.

I love Webster in Minnesota. Any place except Portland is actually fine by me.

My only beef is I would rather have gone after a big in the draft like Seraphin than babbit who is some what of a wasted pick IMO

Shit stinks wherever it is. It doesn't matter if it is named Martell or Babbit.

I have said it before, so I will remind you again: It is my opinion that Webster quietly asked the team to clarify his role giving him the inside track to win a starting position OR to please trade him.

The team decided they didn't want to build around Webster as one of the "core" parts of the team and looked to trade him.

Agreed. I didn't like Babbitt as a prospect. But I didn't like anyone else that was projected to go in mid-late first round either, so I'm not up in arms about it.

I'm not up in arms either, just would rather have gambled on a big

I was hoping they were moving up to pick up Larry Sanders. Some prospects take a few years to develop, and that could be the case here. While I admit that so far, I haven't seen a whole lot of positive aspect to Babbit, I am willing to give him some rope to develope, especially in light of the fact that we are obviously not contenders anymore, and have to start improving somewhere.

A) Babbitt was drafted as a scorer.

B) The Blazers desperately need a bench scorer.

C) Babbitt has been demoted to the D league.

The math there is both simple and brutal. When people regret trading Webster for you......it is time to chew open the veins in your wrist.

I can't believe we're talking about Martell Webster. I am delighted that the Blazers chose to take a risk on a rookie rather than keeping him around. I couldn't have taken another season of watching him loft up brick after brick.

What Wesley is doing now is what I always hoped Martell would develop into.

But I am starting to question our scouts. Outside drafting Batum/Roy/Aldridge we've sure picked some 'meh' prospects.

Babbitt
Johnson
Pendergraph
Cunningham
Oden
Koponen
Freeland
Rodriguez

I agree with all your points.. although the last comment is a little much.

I was more commenting on the pick, itself, as opposed to the trade to get it.

Shoot, I'd rather have Eric Bledsoe right about now.

If you could re-do that draft you take Landry Fields at #16 and run!

hopefully babbitt is better than he has shown and is just suffering from nate's confidence-sapping system. guess we'll find out.
