Pelicans are going to sign him first

It was 24 points in one quarter. On a side note, one that didn't go down was the dunk attempt in my avatar. I'd never seen him do anything close to that. It would've brought the house down had it gone down.

(4:30 mark)

I remember Kevin Johnson retired and came back after about a year and a half in order to replace Kidd who got injured.
They made it to the playoffs and even won a series.

And it was the 3rd quarter. BRoy couldn't go in the second half and told Marty he needed him to pick up the slack. Boy, do he ever! 2 points at halftime and then went off for 24 in the third. I was there with my kids. It was insane. For that one quarter, that sweet looking jumper couldn't miss. I've never seen him play with that kind of confidence, before or since.

I think the funniest part was when Matt Harpering referred to him as "what's his name" in the post game interview. I guess you could say no one expected Marty to go off like that.

Doesn't he still live here. From what I remember he has gotten really into music production. I doubt he still has NBA level game, but a camp invite is not the end is the world.
He and Dame should work together.

I'd invite him. Still think he's a better option than Connaughton.

While we're revisitng former Portland players who developed a back injury. Might as well bring back Rudy too.

Surprised no one has actually mentioned why he retired.... it's not pretty.
Here are the first 4 paragraphs:
The stinging reality hit Martell Webster last spring. The Wizards were in the midst of an electric postseason run. They were, for once, the District’s darlings. But the pain drowned out the excitement.

Webster would wake up in agony every day. It was a struggle to get out of bed and prepare for the marquee playoff games, the franchise’s first meaningful contests in years. But there were ways to temporarily overcome the throbbing pain from the herniated disc in his lower back so he played in all 11 Washington playoff games through the discomfort and postponed surgery until June 27.

It was Webster’s third back surgery in four years. He is currently rehabbing at training camp, but is confident he can contribute to the Wizards this season as their backup shooting guard. Still, he remains mindful of the back injuries’ effect — both for his career and the long term — and he decided last spring that he doesn’t envision playing professional basketball much longer.

“I know this game is probably not going to be the healthiest thing for me if I try to stretch it out as much as a possibly can,” Webster told The Post Thursday. “So I intend to really give everything I got for these last three years of my contract and probably walk away from this game so I can be healthy.”

emphases mine.

If we are looking at former NBA players, we should get Anthony Randolph. He and his were ahead of the time back in the day but he's a great fit in the new open floor game.

He won't make it unfortunately. Once your back is jacked up you are done.

Robert Pack. I've seen him on the road recently on another team's coaching staff, can't remember who. Didn't realize he was joining us.

He'd been with New Orleans when Monty was there, and I think he was helping out Alvin Gentry, though I don't know if that was a formal role...

His most recent job (NBA wise) was I believe with the Pelicans (before that the Thunder). I thought he was still a current member of their coaching staff.

Obviously he's scouting some of our players.

Deal coming soon.
