Plumlee's also more athletic on finishes... He dunks it with authority, and goes up for putback slams. I like it.
I didn't know he was this good when we got him from Brooklyn.
 
I want to see him stop with those reverse dunks. They look stupid, and he's going to fuck up sooner or later doing it. Then he'll look REALLY stupid.

Just dunk it on the front, Plummer.
 
Deadspin called out the Nets for such a bad trade the night of the draft.

"Just two years into his career, the Duke product has carved out a fun little niche, establishing himself among the best transitional centers in the league. Plumlee is not a good defender against post players, but he's an adequate help defender, and he's a smart defender.
 
What surprises me most about Plumlee is his ability to catch tough passes in traffic and score in traffic without having to dunk it. He is actually is very skilled in the paint. I thought he would be a catch and dunk guy only. But when he gets the ball inside he has good body control. good hands, and somehow gets the ball to fall through the basket.

He's intelligent and he's athletic. That's a great combo.

Agree that Plumlee has been a pleasant surprise (you know, like Kaman was last year). I still think we'll regret that RHJ trade down the line, because he looks pretty special.* If you have a non-shooting center he better be fucking awesome at D (like Bogut or Noah, for examples) and Plumlee isn't. The other downsides to him are:
1. When you play him with Meyers Leonard, one of them has to guard PFs and it's not pretty.
2. You can't play him alongside Ed Davis (two non-scorers) who I rate higher.
3. I'd honestly rather give his minutes to Chris Alexander. Yes, we'd lose more, but winning shouldn't be the priority this season.

*People have already said that we don't need RHJ because we have Aminu. While I like Aminu,
1. He's in his SIXTH YEAR. RHJ is already almost as good as a rookie.
2. He's kind of mopey. RHJ is the kind of big personality super-positive type that we had in Wes and whose value to a lockerroom is hard to overstate.

So, for now I still say:
We shouldn't've traded Batum (Vonleh has not sold me at all, and I think Batum would've worked great with the Lillard-CJ backcourt).
We shouldn't've traded RHJ.
Instead of Plumlee, give more minutes to Ed Davis and some minutes to Alexander.

Although I hated Batum I think we got a terrible deal in that one. Hendo sucks he does nothing out there and please do not get me started on Vonleh. Hes beyond trash. In 12-13 games so far this year has their been ATLEAST one game hes stood out ? And im not talkin about "ok" games or anything Im talking about atleast one game he looked damn good from start to finish? Hes trash

Youv got no patience. The NBA takes time to learn and get adjusted to. The pace itself is like going straight from go karts to Nascar. Sure, some people come into the league and they are just fine and look great but most take some time.
I bet you were saying CJ and Meyers were trash everytime they played until the playoffs last year.
As for Hendo he will be fine, not a great player but an okay defender and okay shooter. More of a slasher/mid range specialist. He has been injured and I believe he missed training camp because of that. Itll take him a little time to get used to playing with all these new players.

Actually Cj showed a lot early in his career even though he wasn't consistent but their was atleast every 4 or 5 games were he would kill front to finish. His problem was just staying on the court or getting minutes. Meyers yes i did clown on him but hes mainly a spot up shooter and thats about it

Because his brothers cant play near as well. I think thats the missing part of this. Hard to find guys like Plums. . Yeah Plums are all over the place, but not with his athleticism and upside.
 
The issue I had with keeping Nic was he tried really hard to leave when he was a RFA. Why would we think he would not try again. Who is left on this team is close to?
That and his refusal to attack the basket. It will be interesting to see how loyal he is to Charlotte this summer.

I was a huge RHJ fan before the draft and was excited that we got him and pissed when we traded him. But until he shows he can shoot well enough for a wing, in order to be in the game in crunch time, I am going to say the trade is a wash. Right now I am not sure he is any better than Harkless, let alone Aminu.

It is way too early to really judge these trades though.

We have Aminu AND Harkless. The age difference between Harkless and RHJ is only one year.

Mason is CLEARLY better than his brother. It's not even close. Did you look at their numbers?
 
Plum is decent center and improving every game. But the real problem for guarding down low he has to get stronger but he did good job on Howard and last night against the big boy in LA. So he learning how to use his quickness against bigger center.
 
Hopefully Harkless puts it all together this year, because he could be FAR better than Aminu.
 
Here's the reason why I like Plumlee -

He's smart. He understands the game. He knows what's going on.

He's athletic. He runs the floor. He attacks the rim.

He's young and he's improving.

If guys like Rolo are getting contracts like the one he got, then that just shows you the value of someone like Plumlee. He's going to get paid.

Needs a boost of confidence. 5 or so games in a row where puts up steady production with steady PT, I think we'll have something.

He's pretty meh. Denver could find a Serbian version of him in the second round, no problem.

He's averaging 8 rebounds per game in a starting lineup where Aminu is averaging 7.7 per game and Dame is averaging 4.2. I don't think he's "mediocre."
