They want their iphones and their starbucks and their Prius, but they don't want to acknowledge how those things are made, what they're made of, and where those resources come from. America is the clueless rich people living upstairs while China, and India, and Mexico are doing all the polluting and manufacturing downstairs. Out of sight, out of mind. We just want everything made for us and we don't care how it came to be. We are the Downton Abbey of the global economy.

It's true, my chances of cancer and auto accidents are higher than being shot. But it's not a case where 'you have to pick one'. Gun control laws don't mean we can't try to cure cancer. Curing cancer doesn't mean abandoning seat belt laws.

Both are sad. But I am not sure what refrigerators have to do with this thread. Also, can you find an article where a mother intentionally crushes each of her daughters with a refrigerator, and then the police respond and intentionally crush the mother with a refrigerator?

I'd like to ask an Australian blazer fan to respond to this, but alas, they are no longer allowed to post here since the gun ban. Which is sad, because they have a lot of free time, not being able to drive anywhere. But maybe they have all been killed by the government already, we'll never know.

Accidents happen. Things aren't always safe.

Sadly, there are lots of stories about mothers drowning or otherwise killing their kids. Even - *GASP* - leaving them locked in a car to suffocate.

Although the government can not be completely exonerated, I think mostly it has been poisonous spiders, stingrays, snakes, and the occasional rabid kangaroo.
