Brown gunman hunt continues as police release person of interest

A person of interest who had been taken into custody after a fatal shooting at Brown University on Saturday will 'soon be released' from custody.

The alleged gunman who opened fire at Brown University on Saturday, killing two people and injuring nine others, is a US Army infantry soldier with sniper training.

A LinkedIn profile connected with Benjamin Erickson, 24, showed he was a decorated soldier in the US Army, where he passed sniper training, had experience with different types of firearms and served as a rifleman from 2021 through 2024.

It also notes that he was taking online classes from the University of Wisconsin-Madison focusing on psychology, but transferred to Brown for the fall semester, once his military service ended.

He is now said to have made a 17-hour trek from Wisconsin to Rhode Island with a laser-equipped firearm, according to law enforcement.

Erickson was then taken into custody early Sunday morning by FBI agents at the Hampton Inn hotel in Coventry, where federal authorities were able to track him using 'geolocation' following a tip-off from Providence police.

It remains unclear why Erickson may have opened fire at the Ivy League school, though authorities are looking into his mental health history, NBC News reported.

With Brown University shooter still at large, Kash Patel did the Katie Miller show with his girlfriend. Nothing more important to do.
 
It hadn't occurred to me to ask the political views of the two students.

The young woman was white and pretty and Christian. Worthy of mourning. Unlike the young man who was darker skinned, you know, like Jesus.

Headline? FBI says "we got him". No you didnt. You found him. Huge difference.
 
Just heard this last night. After Brown shooting, some right wing groups fingered a Palestinian student as shooter. No evidence. Based solely on him being Palestinian. Valuable law enforcement resources wasted investigating this totally innocent young man. But right wing groups kept posting his name on site Brown put up for tips even after he was cleared. The University deleted these posts to try to protect his privacy. Conspiracy theory began to be spread Brown was covering up because they were too woke or politically correct or some meaningless term to arrest a Palestinian. Young man received non-stop death threats.

Then Harmeet Dhillon, head of Department of Injustice Civil Whites division, retweeted, saying it was concerning Brown was covering up. Congresswoman Elise Stefanik threatened in a tweet to bring president of Brown University before Congress to explain the supposed cover up.

Even after actual shooter named and found, neither Dhillon nor Stefanik have taken down tweets accusing innocent Palestinian student.

He has a lawyer and I hope he sues their asses off.

Stefanik ended her campaign for New York governor and announced she is leaving Congress. Good riddance to bad rubbish.
