OT Massive hack of Oregon DMV system puts estimated 3.5 million driver license and ID card info at risk

I likely have been hit; this one was pretty clever. I got envelopes from the Employment Department saying I had started an unemployment claim. Looks like the scam is taking the SSN and associated data and trying to make claims in an attempt to get a week or two of money before being caught.

Same thing just happened to my wife.

She had an id theft case like a year ago. It could be related to that but it seems more likely it is related to the DMV hack if it happened to you too.

An update: when I called the Employment Department, the guy implied this was because of the DMV leak, mentioning the fraud calls have gone way up since, but that none of his bosses have said it is officially.

We had to call some fraud unit to give them information.
