It's sort of fun wading through the evolution of "expert" opinion on the Blazers. This guy seemed kind of harmless, and sort of acknowledges the whole "our predictions don't mean anything even though I still write about it" thing.
Pre-season
Week 1

Week 7
Also from week 7:
Me neither Matt, but I did know Portland was a play-off team (baring season ending injuries - knock on a lot of wood). And, I’m fascinated it only took you a week, unlike the SI contributor from Homer’s Edge, to realize the Blazers are a play-off team.
Also of some humor was his pre-season prediction for "Coach on the Hot Seat".
Did you catch it?
Pre-season: of all the coaches in the NBA, Stotts was the one he singled out being most on the Hot seat
Week 7: Terry Stotts has emerged as the front-runner for Coach of the Year
Adorable.
Pre-season

The Blazers bolstered their bench by adding Mo Williams, CJ McCollum, Thomas Robinson and Dorell Wright, which should give their overworked starters relief. Bringing in Robin Lopez gives them a capable defensive center, too. This could be a make-or-break year in Portland for a lot of people, including LaMarcus Aldridge and coach Terry Stotts, but it helps that the Blazers have better talent.
Week 1
Matt Dollinger SI.comi said:#12 (#9 in the West) Portland Trail Blazers (2-1)
You can go ahead and pencil the Blazers into the playoffs if LaMarcus Aldridge and Damian Lillard are going to continue to average a combined 50.7 points. After a head-scratching loss to the Suns on opening night, the Blazers rebounded to beat two playoff teams from last season, Denver and San Antonio, in impressive fashion. With a horde of shooters and a fortified second unit, Portland ranks second in offensive efficiency and has the makings of being a top-10 unit all season.

Week 7
Matt Dollinger SI.comi said:#1 Portland Trail Blazers (21-4)
It's one thing to reach No. 1 in the Power Rankings, but it's another thing entirely to stay on top. The Blazers have now done both after another perfect week, while improving to 10-0 against the Eastern Conference. Terry Stotts has emerged as the front-runner for Coach of the Year in light of Portland's transformation from a 33-win lottery team into the Western Conference leader.

Who knew that the Suns would be in the thick of the Western Conference playoff race? Or that the Brad Stevens-led Celtics would be atop the Atlantic Division? Did you peg the Bobcats for a better record than the Knicks or Nets in mid-December? Or how about the Trail Blazers leading the NBA in victories?
Yeah, me neither.

Matt Dollinger SI.comi said:Terry Stotts. With a slew of new additions fortifying Portland's second unit, the pressure is on Stotts to lead the Blazers to the playoffs in his second year. It doesn't help that All-Star big man LaMarcus Aldridge is growing tired of watching his peers contend for titles every spring. If Portland fails to live up to expectations -- which wouldn't be surprising, considering the West's depth -- this could be the third coaching job for which Stotts lasts only two years.

What's wrong with what he did and why did it deserve a thread?
