Heart of a Lion, defense like an animal, and just so fun to watch.

I hope he stays healthy all season. He's gonna be our x factor

I was just goin to start a thread and ask if he's playin the best ball of his career, I say yes

The sac coach being interviewed and they asked him about Aldridge. He replied "everyone keeps talking about Lillard and Aldridge, but Matthews was the game changer. He's the toughest 2 guard in the league."

Who doesn't think Wes = Top 10 SG?

I've long argued that he is unquestionably a Top 10 SG. But that that distinction is mostly an indictment against the talent level of the position. But this season I think he's earning the distinction, more than it just falling to him due to lack of competition. He really has added new depth to his game. In the past I've been willing (but not eager) to include him in a trade - but at this point, unless the trade upgrades the SG spot (or is for a SG we hope blossoms into a star), I don't know that I'd include Wes.

hmmm, were there some preseason Q's about him?

Started a similar thread - mods can merge if they're so inclined.

He making a strong case this season! I'm loving it

I am a little surprised at how quickly he turned it on. He looked went from extreme to the other. He is playing well. As is LMA

If Matthews wants to be considered as a good shooting guard he should grow a beard.

that layup was really nice. Hope he keeps it up, because he can be inconsistent.

Well the last time I asked this question in the forum (11-02-2012 08:16 PM to be exact) people got a chuckle out of it but I'll ask again. Whats the chance Wesley Mathews makes the All Star team?

Since there's a fan vote, not a chance.

But there are coaches, so...

He's already got a mo, a soul patch, and a goatee; you saying he needs to grow them out?

I thought he played well even in game one, but had to defend the guy in a thread that turned into "what's wrong with Wes???"

He's coming into his own, he's now in shape after his heart issue, and he's a solid veteran.

You hated his signing...

I did. I thought it was too much money for an "old" player coming off of his rookie season. That doesn't mean I hate him as a player. I still think he's overpaid, but what does that matter? It's not like he's a complete bust, and he's playing the best ball of his career right now.

Oh, I forgot. Opinions aren't allowed to evolve here, and some of you get boners by pulling up shit from years ago.

Wait, you think Matthews is overpaid considering his current production?

Through 5 games, no. It's a long season, though, and he was overpaid his first 3 years in Portland, IMO. That doesn't mean I think he stinks as a player, though.

Top 10 ranking of Shooting Guards- PER

1. CJ Miles
2. Kevin Martin (best pickup of offseason?)
3. Rodney Stuckey
4. James Harden
5. Wesley Matthews
6. Jordan Crawford
7. JJ Redick
8. Eric Gordon
9. Anthony Morrow
10. Gordon Hayward

Wow, if you take into consideration that Matthews is a starter and some of those are reserves, I think you could make a case for Matthews being a TOP 3 SG in this league.

Mags, I'm surprised at this thread after you trashed him in preseason. I think you were a dumbass.
