Maurice Lucas RIP

Does anyone have a larger picture of him in the alley? This is the only one I could find on the web and it flips back and forth with a pic from his playing days with the Sonics. It's one of my favorite all-time pictures of Luke!

This comes as complete shock to me. Like a few people on here I thought he was getting better and was looking forward to him coming back and working with the blazers again at some point. He was one of the all time great Blazers and just an overall good person, he is irreplaceable and will be missed.

Growing up I was on the same basketball team as his son and remember meeting him a few times. Really great guy. This really bums me out.

My thoughts and prayers go to his family.

A truly sad day. Words can't do justice here.

It's on the SI Vault website, too, but not as a stand-alone picture file. Too bad, that is one bad-ass shot.

Right click on picture, select "view image". It will show you right where it's from.

Nicely composed photo. I stripped out the other image in Photoshop.

Hey, if you're able to blow that up or digitally enhance it or something post it here! I would love to have a larger version!

When Lucas was hired as an assistant coach, I got to go the press conference. I was wearing an Oregon sweatshirt and we actually chatted about Oregon Basketball for 10-15 minutes, despite the fact that his son played at OSU. He just loved talking basketball and was friendly to me despite his obvious allegiance to OSU. Sorry to hear he lost his battle. RIP!

Sad news. I was surprised when I heard it yesterday. RIP Mr. Lucas.

As for the video up above, those fans on the floor looked like JVG when he was trying to break up the Heat/Knicks fight back in the 90's.

Next Blazer injury,

sign David Lucas to a 10 day contract.

just got a little choked up for the first time in years. Just finished our off air video montage paying tribute to Maurice Lucas. Please watch it as we go off the air tonight. RIP Luke.......

Will that be immediately following the finish of the game? Or is it after a post game show? I don't get Comcast so I need to know to determine if I can see it somewhere else.

any chance of it being on Youtube later? Doubt a feed will be up long enough for me to see it online.

After our broadcast, as they go to the post game show.

I'll try to put it on YouTube late tonight!

They just played a tribute video to him on the pregame show. Not sure if it's the same one you did.

TLong and HCP - if you need, I have the original SI Enforcers copy with that Alley Shot in it. It could be scanned.

Not sure if this is the one HCP was working on or if it's already been posted, but thought it was a good video.

That was nice, but I can't claim it.

I have NO idea why, but when I heard about Luke's passing, Israel Kamakawiwo'ole's rendition of Over The Rainbow immediately came to mind.

Great video, thanks for posting it. First time I've actually seen footage of Maurice squaring off against I assume Darryl Dawkins there. That was awesome. And seeing him make that half-court shot for charity was pretty sweet. Great stuff.

My mom is a big Blazer fan and she told me her favorite Mo Lucas memory. It was during a time out and Travis got a little banged up when a big pick was set on him. You could hear Travis tell Mo that he's hurting, Mo looked at his shoulder like as if he was a qualified doctor and said "ahhh, you'll be alright, get out there"
