Consolation prize?

The celtics will be getting the Mavs 7-14 pick. Book it. Dumb move by Mavs.

In the second round. Zaza isn't that bad but I don't know why they got him, I thought they were rebuilding.

Celtics receive a 2016 first round pick from Mavs. Top 7 protected in 2016-2020, unprotected in 2021. ()

There's no way this is true.

Wait. Celtics? Is this another deal you're talking about?

Celtics (protected top 7)

Traded • Rajon Rondo • Dwight Powell to Mavericks for • Brandan Wright • Jae Crowder • Jameer Nelson • first round pick (protected top 3 and #15-30 in 2015, top 7 in 2016-20, else 2020 second round pick, 2021 second round pick) (?-?) • 2016 second round pick (more favorable of Grizzlies, Mavericks picks) (?-?) • $12.9M trade exception on 2014-12-18

Danny Ainge believes that you should break up whatever core you have for draft picks. That might have worked 25 years agio. But not in modern drafts.
