That smile would make me think he is Milwaukee bound. That's where he wants to go.

What do you think that might indicate if anything?

So what are you saying?

Agents get calls all the time from teams asking if their client would be interested in playing for them. LMA agents are letting everyone know that the Blazers are offering Max money so don't be calling and offering anything less. LMA might be interested in joining a "Super Team" but he won't take less money to do it.

That's just my guess. And I think he'll end up staying with the Blazers.

What is really interesting about this is I know the Blazers did not leak this to Wojo. Olshey is fanatical about not telling the press anything. This information came from LMA's camp. It's interesting that 1 hour before the start of the draft they call up Woj and tell him about the meeting.

Who knows if that's really what happened. Seems just as likely to me that Wojo was sniffing around looking for draft nuggets and heard about the meeting, then tweeted it out. I don't think there's anything to see here. Do we really think Aldridge said there was no way he wants to re-sign, and because of that we're going to trade him for a draft pick? Highly, highly unlikely.

If he doesn't sign next year. It is true we are left with the cap space to go out and sign another free agent. But would you rather have just that? Or would rather have that and whatever he would garner in a trade before that? If you are interested in maximizing everything you have, I think it would be smart to be proactive before hand and find he out if we actually have a shot in resigning him. Which is what It sounds like they did.

LMA is known to feel slighted about some of the stupidest stuff. This seems more like a move on both PA and Olsheys part to tell LMA that we want him here and want him to be the leader of the team not just now but for the foreseeable future.

Oh for sure - it was smart of them to have the meeting. It was a good gesture and gives them hopefully a little insight. I just can't imagine them coming out of it thinking they need to look at trading him today.

This info either came from the Blazers or LMA's camp. I'd bet LMA's camp. The Blazers are on information lock down.

I wonder if the front office is so high on Lillard that the plan has always been to chase kevin love unless Aldridge is willing to come back on blazers terms.

Wait if Olshey is offering LMA a contract and not in his office working the phones how are we going to get a draft pick to use on someone who is going to sit next to Leonard on the pine?

We're trading LMA's max offer to Minnesota for a 1st round pick. Olshey will even sign it to add to the value.

I thought this was an interesting article, specifically for the graphic that shows what LMA is actually worth versus what he'll make. Max contract is fine.

For those who want to know, here's the WAR ranking for the Blazers starting 5 (ranked among their position):

Dame - 6th among PGs
Wes - 15th among SGs
Nic - 18th among SFs
LMA - 5th among PFs
Robin - 6th among Cs

So really (and I think some of us have known this all along) our Big 3 is Dame, Robin, LaMarcus.

For those curious, Mo was 65th among PGs, between Jordan Farmar and Jerryd Bayless.

This all went down last week.

Why would Aldridge's camp release this? That would make no sense.

I think it came from the Blazers. They want everyone to know that they're making an effort to re-sign him.

Conspiracy theory: the Blazers released this because they're planning to trade him and they wanted everyone to think they made their best effort to re-sign him and he rebuffed them.

WoJ went out of his way to say it was released to him by LMA's camp. Don't see any reason he would lie.

This was it. Either Aldridge is in for the future or the team has to part ways. Can't miss out on this draft like Minnesota is about to do.

I don't understand the motivation though. To reassure Blazer fans that LA wants to stay?

Where did he say that btw? I don't see it anywhere in that article.

It might reassure someone who wants to play with Dame and LaMarcus that the Blazers plan to keep both long-term.

If there is such a mythical all star, as has been reported.

Aldridge has publicly and privately expressed a strong desire to stay with the Blazers, and there's believed to be significant momentum toward him ultimately recommitting to Portland. The fact that the owner and GM made the trip to present the offer face-to-face wasn't lost on Aldridge's camp, sources said.
I don't think any of this was for fans benefit but for LMA's benefit. LMA has been known to take things personally so this seems like a Olsheys/PA way of quashing any rumors or misguiding about wanting LMA to stay here long term.

Jabari Parker is the all star, they didn't say it was a current one!

Except the Blazers leaking what LMA's camp felt could horribly backfire, that's exactly the type of thing LMA hates. It sounds to me like the leak came from LMA's side of things, not the Blazers.

But why? What's the point?
