With this being Jeter's final season, I got to thinking about some other final seasons,

Pete Rose (72 games) 0 / 25 / 219
Henry Aaron (85 games) 10 / 35 / 229
Willie Mays (66 games) 6 / 25 / 211
Eddie Murray (55 games) 3 / 18 / 222
Dave Winfield (46 games) 2 / 4 / 191
Harmon Killibrew (106 games) 14 / 44 / 199
Mickey Mantle (144 games) 18 / 54 / 237
Cal Ripkin (128 games) 14 / 68 / 239

I guess sometimes its just hard to let go.

...when the season began I thought if DJ could play 100 games and bat .270 and not get embarrassed defensively, it would be a bonus.

...so far, he's exceeded my expectations. I'm just sorry that this year's team may not be able to send both him and Ichiro off into the sunset as WS Champs.

I said earlier in the year that I'd be okay with 5 / 50 / 260 And honestly I really didn't think his ankle would hold up to a full season so yeah he's exceeded my expectations also. I just wish he could have had one more playoff.

He's not done yet...time to pull a Brett favre. 1 more year!
