Kevin McHale is out of the basketball business for now, he said this morning, so he's offering no opinion on the hiring of his Minnesota Timberwolves coaching successor (and former Los Angeles Lakers playing rival) Kurt Rambis.

"I'm just 'Joe Citizen' now," McHale said. "I don't want to comment."

Thank god he passed the torch to Chris Wallace before he left the stage.

Farewell, Kevin. You sucked impressively.

actually a good coach, and his terribleness was greatly overrated in my opinion. I think a lot of his bad moves were fueled by glen taylor, but that's just my angle

Based on his moves, I would say he's been out of the basketball business for quite a while.

Perhaps this is why McHale had "no comment" on the Rambis hiring:

Getting fired and replaced by a Laker has to be the ultimate insult to a former Celtic.

All-time great player, excellent coach, questionable GM. Would LOVE to have him working with Greg on his low post game. For a slow, unathletic guy whose mobility was limited by injuries, McHale could get a shot off against anyone - and usually make the shot while drawing a foul on the defender.

The up-and-under for the and-1 on Buck starting at 0.38 is classic McHale.

He should remain in basketball. Teaching Oden low post footwork.

McHale put together a pretty good team in the period that Garnett won MVP. They made a WCF, then things started to go downhill. It could be argued that the reason McHale is now without a job is because he traded Brandon Roy to Portland.

the sad thing is he is a better coach then nate. but sucks as a gm

he has said many times before that he doesn't want to do basketball anymore. he just wants to spend time with his family. He was pretty torn about coaching last season.

He's almost certainly employed if he doesn't trade Roy. Roy and Al Jefferson would be a phenomenal foundation to build a team on.
