I have to admit, sustaining legitimate interest is become daunting.

The last time this team wasn't a solid regular season team/1st round exit team was during the Sheed era.

Selling 'patience' is Neil's primary export. As long as this team is being managed by Neil, purgatory is here to stay.

Ladies, what say you?

I was just having this discussion yesterday with another fan. It is tough to think there is more to look forward to when so little has changed.

Near the bottom in assists, forced turnovers, fast break points.....almost requires that the team be on fire from 3-pt range and even if they are, it has to be on a night when there defense is better than normal.

Not exactly a recipe for long term success especially in the Playoffs.

I wish the local media had more writers around the team to give us the lowdown about the current organizational status or direction. Fucking Olshey has done such a great job of neutering the media so that every single quote attributed to him tells you nothing. And the stuff he releases to Woj is either blowing smoke or inevitable news items. Of course, you can always go over to Blaze's Edge and get the sports equivalent of reading wallpaper.

I think they can talk about two different aspects of the team. The current way they see it, and then talk about the shake-up in another thread. I think it's fine.
Honestly i was just poking fun. But thanks for looking.

I don't have any problem with people starting threads. If i don't like em i scroll on by.

Neutered media is about right. And anyone that questions the Blazers in a way they don't like (ie Ropp, Quick) is pressured by the Blazers to be let go. The next time anyone in the Blazer media actually asks Olshey a tough question with a legit follow up....will be the first.

What? We got out of the 1st round only twice in Sheed years. Lakers personally took us out in the first round three times. 99 and 00 were exceptions.

It’s about time the majority is feeling this. Only @BonesJones seems to just want a coaching change and that’s it.

I’m glad this post era LMA team is coming to end. It’s time to move on. Since 2015 to now this team has been completely mediocre. It’s better to roll the dice on a new collection of draft picks then to “hope” Mclillard and Co. wil finally click

So I say good riddance on this era and let us welcome the future to build this thing right

Personally, I've got enough sports teams and interests to pull me through the Blazer doldrums. With that said, I expect changes to happen after new ownership takes control of the team. However, there will be a lot of speculation until that time and that will keep me fully entertained. :biglaugh:

Why do you say "just" changing the coach like it's a bad thing? That is one of the easiest things to try when things are stagnant.

Or should GS have traded Curry, Thompson, and Green when they fired Jackson?

Curry Thompson and Green were all still if not barley out their rookie contracts.

Lillard is almost 30 for god sakes. This era is coming to end. Face it and embrace it. I, for one is ready to welcome a new era of blazer basketball. This one right now sucks..

So Dame will be good the next 5 years? That's a pretty big window.

We can keep Dame till he retires and rebuild then. No point to throw away Dame to start a rebuild a few years early.

The rebuild will take atleast 3 years. What’s the point of having a good Lillard for what 2 more years

For me its not like I believe just getting a new coach turns them into GS, but I believe theres a lot of benefits to that being the first move they try.
  • New Coaching Philosophy.
  • New Set of eyes on the players already there. Could mean role changes, could mean different rotations.
  • Gets players out of their comfort zones and challenges them.
  • Shows that the franchise is willing to go away from someone they LIKE because winning is a priority.
Maybe you find out that really Stotts was getting the most out of the talent here, but even that is a good thing, because it tells you exactly what you need to get better, better players.

Ive never thought that Stotts was a terrible coach, I just think he’s had his fair shot with this group. He’s failed at least in my opinion to really evolve as a coach on either end. Yeah once in a while they throw in a new wrinkle to the same 5-6 plays theyve ran his entire tenure but everyone who’s got a scouting report on the Blazers knows how to guard them, and knows whats coming.

Exactly right. Chances are this group won't be much better, but why not at least attempt to do something before blowing it up? With how much is invested in contracts it makes sense to see if someone else can light a fire under them. If it doesn't work, then you can still blow it up.

When Kerr got to GS he called Curry and told him he wasn't going to allow him to hide on defense and he was going to hold him accountable on that end. That sure sounds nice doesn't it?

Stotts should consider a change of career. Minutes played, play design, passing and defense are totally different than the days of Nirvana (before the "road" trip).

I'm not saying rebuild now. Why not keep Dame for his entire career, try and upgrade the roster and coaching so that we can compete once Golden State leaves? And then once Dame retires, we rebuild?

These upcoming drafts are weak too, now's not the time to rebuild. Also, many teams are taking because of GS, and itd be hard to outrank them
Also, rebuilding now lowers the value of the team and raises the chance we'd be relocated. It's highly unlikely we'd have a successful rebuild in 3 years so theres no point to not try and improve. Tanking right now is a very stupid idea.

What's also weird: The people begging for us to tank are usually the least knowledgeable about the prospects available in upcoming drafts outside of the top 2 or 3 players. They dont even know who they want to tank for. Is Quentin Grimes and Bryan Antoine really going to turn us into contenders...? Nope.

Examples of teams who've been rebuilding for most of the past 12 years, yet during that time, have not contended, and won't be any time soon.

New York Knicks
Sacremento Kings
Minnesota Timberwolves
Charlotte Hornets/Bobcats
New Orleans Pelicans
Utah Jazz
Detroit Pistons
New Jersey/Brooklyn Nets
Washington Wizards

The Wizards are a great example. They had the 1st pick in 2010 and the 3rd picks and 2012 & 2013.... Now its 2018, and look where they're at now? Smh...

The Nets and the Knicks exist for concession stand and hat/jersey sales.
