Im not saying because they won a playoff series I think he did a good job. I think he did a good job because he had a completely new roster and figured out their roles, learned what they could do and did a good job implementing something they could do. I think he did a good job that year drawing up plays from timeouts, and overall I think that was his best year of coaching, even had they not beat the clippers I still believe he did a good job that year. You can say he just rolled the ball out to Dame, but other stars have missed the playoffs before. I dont believe his coaching that year was just give dame the ball and move out of the way. He connected with his players and gave them a gameplan they could accomplish, he made adjustments.

My problem with Stotts has been mostly after that in my opinion he’s regressed to a coach that his best qualities are just being likeable, and a players coach.

I mean who knows maybe a new coach comes and does worse, or does the same. Maybe it doesnt matter who coaches this team the talent just “is what it is”. Thats not how I see it, I think they could get more from this roster. Id like to find out.
I think it's a talent issue too. I think it's both. Just think replacing Stotts was in our control this summer and we didn't do anything.

We need an elite defensive two guard. Our defense is loosing us game after game.

Bump!

Anyone else indifferent about the loss?

Neil is in it - to not win it.
If it were anyone other than HOU (or LAC, or GSW) I'd be cool with it. But I hate losing to those teams. Now MEM on the other hand... :)

Even worse, Houston is going to look back on that game as a pivotal moment in their season. Down 15 in the 1st quarter and getting destroyed at home they almost had the lead by the end of the quarter. This likely will propel them back to playing well.

All I know is I cant be negative or pessimistic abut this team, apparently. That means I'm probably a communist or something worse.

No, there are plenty of other things that make you a communist. The pessimism is just confirmation. :curse:

DRPM for 104 NBA SG's:

41 Seth Curry -0.32
97 CJ McCollum -2.11
99 Nik Stauskas -2.85

I was actually surprised to see Curry ranked that high, he sure hasn't looked that good on defense. It may just be a case where his numbers look good because of matchups and limited sample size, but that would probably apply to a lot of players.

I wasn't surprised to see CJ and Stauskas right at the bottom of that ranking; they've both been bad at defense since they entered the NBA

Perimeter defense has never seemed to be an Olshey priority. Maybe he's giving Stotts what he wants or maybe he just doen't think it's important, hard to say. Whatever the reason, it's proving to be really questionable decision-making to put all these defensive sieves as SG's next to Dame's weak defense.
