Here are some pictures of her scars. They're all over but you can really see them on her face. One ear is torn. She has a bite mark around one eye. It's a miracle she didn't lose it. Multiple bites all over her face, ears, bottom, body. It's a miricle that she survived wherever she was at. She's very very skinny. You can see every rib and hip bone. But we've already put 3lbs on her.

I may be talking out my arse (aka channeling HCP) but I remember a show saying not to let dogs put on too much weight too fast.....

Amazing how their personalities come out with a little love.

My wife and I had an older Boxer Boy that was our baby and about a year ago we rescued a Boxer girl out of NM. She had been a bait dog as well. Nothing but tongue, tail and bones. She had no idea what toys were. I had to feed her in a separate room so she would not take the old boys food, you know the drill.

The boy spent the last year teaching her how to puppy and she has blossomed into a super wonderful kissy face bed warmer. When we had to put our boy to sleep late December, she realized how hart broken we both were, and gave us both even more love.

The scars will heal, and these wonderful beings forgive some how. Enjoy your new baby. I know that in time I will get another to keep the girl company, and of course, it will be a rescue.

I know your pain and joy. Sounds like your new dog won the human lottery.

Good on you for this.

We had to send our last dog to heaven about a year ago. It took almost a full year before we were ready to get a new dog. Been following some of the local shelters online when Ariel popped up today. Went down and instantly bonded. She's really small and extremely shy. Her ears are scared from being bitten and one is healing from being torn. She's had a rough life. But she's cute, and now she's ours! We pick her up on Thursday because she's being fixed tomorrow.

And while the Multnomah County Animal Shelter named her Ariel, she's only had the name for 2 days so we're going to rename her Ruby. Not sure why, she just seems like a Ruby.

You sent her to the vet to be 'tutored'?

Ruby went to the Rainbow Bridge tonight.

I have never seen a dog that tried so hard to be the best dog she could be. Absolutely devoted to us.

Looks like Ruby and Wheels will keep each other company.

RIP Ruby. You were such a good dog.

Sorry Sly, not easy losing part of the family. Lost my family dog last year.

RIP Ruby.

She will be in good company.
