THE MARTELL WEBSTER BANDWAGON EXPRESS IS NOW BOARDING! No Haters allowed!

Re: ALL ABOOOOOOAAAAARRRRDDDDDDD!

I'll save it until he plays well consistently. He just proved what we already know, decent starting, VERY streaky, can't come off the bench.

Re: ALL ABOOOOOOAAAAARRRRDDDDDDD!

He has always been my favorite player, and recently I have been talking about how bad he has been playing, and I know he needs to show a lot more consistency, but...

MARTELL WEBSTER IS AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: ALL ABOOOOOOAAAAARRRRDDDDDDD!

"All Aboooooaaarrrddd" reminds me of RG's old proposed train to take Damon Stoudamire out of the city and off the team.

Re: ALL ABOOOOOOAAAAARRRRDDDDDDD!

I'm just joking. I just crack up that people on here will now say he should have been starting all along! Say he should be an all-star. People on here can be as crazy positive as they can be crazy negative. Anyway, good game Marty!

Re: ALL ABOOOOOOAAAAARRRRDDDDDDD!

great game Webs and kudos! Now show us some consistency buddy!

Re: ALL ABOOOOOOAAAAARRRRDDDDDDD!

He had a terrific game, but even when it's not as god I want to see him start and get some burn. He's shown great defense, rebounding, and athleticism at may points this season, and it looks like just a little confidence can make a big difference. It's be great, too, if we knew that he could sometimes make up for poor rebounding out of the front court (rare, but there was Atlanta).

Well, lot of posters, myself included, have been saying Martell should have been starting all along, all along. Or if coach must stick to the 3 pg unit, Rudy. A lot of us commented long ago Martell plays better as a starter. Roy must play his proper position, SG to maximize his effectiveness. Martell is our best (only) SF at the moment. Play him. Establish the post. These things are elementary. I didn't get to see the game. Sorry I missed this show!!

Re: ALL ABOOOOOOAAAAARRRRDDDDDDD!

Great game for Webs. The post-game interview also shows he's a class act.

I wish him consistent success going forward.

Re: ALL ABOOOOOOAAAAARRRRDDDDDDD!

He's not a star by any means, but there should have been no question that he should be starting even before tonight performance. Just like how Oden seems to dominate defensively when you start getting him involved in the offense. Martell is night and day when he has to come off the bench, the kid needs confidence more than anything and when he has it he's as valuable a role-player as we have to play next to our big talents. Perimeter defense, spreads the floor, and looks to help on the glass is what we need at the 3 and he brings all of it when his heads right.

Re: ALL ABOOOOOOAAAAARRRRDDDDDDD!

Iiiittttssssss Thuuuuh BLAKE and Marty show!! Featuring BLAKE!!! And Marty.

Re: ALL ABOOOOOOAAAAARRRRDDDDDDD!

I want to love Webs, but I don't want to be burned again. He's never been consistent, so I'll reserve judgment for now. Good game though.

Re: ALL ABOOOOOOAAAAARRRRDDDDDDD!

Goes to show if he gets time on the floor he can produce. It's hard for any player in the NBA to produce when your minutes aren't consistent. No doubt he has struggled as of late but when he gets playing time we are a better team.

Which means Miller must be traded. He just doesn't fit here.

Or we could deal Blake. If the coach and GM were fully confident in Blake's abilities, they'd have never picked up Miller.

They only picked up Miller because they felt they had to do something with that money. They never intended to start Miller over Blake. In fact, Nate told Andre as much which is fine BUT now that Outlaw is gone, we need another scorer on our bench and Miller is probably our best piece to net one with.

In fact? We really don't know. Everything I've seen was more along the line that Miller was told he'd have to compete for the starter's job, and that nothing would be given.

Re: ALL ABOOOOOOAAAAARRRRDDDDDDD!

Right now the only train Martell deserves, looks like this:
choo-choo02.jpg

Don't get me wrong, it was nice to see that he has a pulse and the rumors of his death were slightly exaggerated, but let's see him average 45% from the floor, 38% from three and no more than one boneheaded play per game for 5 or 6 in a row before we upgrade him to a full choo-choo.

With tonight as a starter he's at 10.8pts on 44.9%/45.5%/64.7%, 4.7rebs, 1.2ast, 0.8blks, 1.3stls, 0.8tovs in 27mpg. Extremely small sample size being what it is, those are solid roleplayer numbers.

Re: ALL ABOOOOOOAAAAARRRRDDDDDDD!

Is that why everyone was honking their horns outside the Rose Garden tonight...???

Consistency is king when it comes to roleplayers. 21 and 13 is a fantastic night, but if he's sprinkling 3 point, 20% stinkers in there it's pretty hard to make a case for him to be on the floor.

I was encouraged ... nay! heartened by what I saw tonight. Now he needs to follow this up with a 12 point outing 5 or 6 boards on 45%+ shooting and near 40% from the arc, and good defense.

Re: ALL ABOOOOOOAAAAARRRRDDDDDDD!

Miller
Roy
Webster
Aldridge
Oden

=

2010 Championship, let it bake with those 5 already for fuck sake!

Re: ALL ABOOOOOOAAAAARRRRDDDDDDD!

Travis took a lot of flack for having one great game out of three. But his 33% great game rate wasn't that bad compaired to Martell's 10%.

To go one step further, Travis had a 20% great game rate against good teams, as opposed to Martell's 3%.

I will not enter the Martell Badwaggon until that number rises significantly.

That's a nice looking train, somebody did a good job. Although you have to wonder what was in those barrels originally, and how well they cleaned them out.

...I just hope that they were not made in China, for the kid's sake :devilwink:

Re: ALL ABOOOOOOAAAAARRRRDDDDDDD!

Webster is just bizarre. He'll miss 6 shots in a row, then hit three in a row. Then the next shot he takes won't even hit the rim or backboard. Tonight, when he was hitting every 3-pointer he took, he calmly stepped up to the line and missed two free throws in a row.

Tomorrow he'll probably throw a ball at the side of his house and miss everything.

Then rain one in from 3/4 court.

Re: ALL ABOOOOOOAAAAARRRRDDDDDDD!

Say what you want to about him as a player, but he is a great person. As he left tonight with his family, he stuck around and signed autographs for every single fan in the loading dock.
