Merged: In 1993, Shaq grabbed 28 rebounds and blocked 15 shots in the same game?

i love the comparisions to oden. GO from the get go was not going to blow anyone away with his offense. he didn't have that kind of game at osu and he obviously hasn't developed it in the NBA. will he ever be a dominant offensive center? who knows, but i do think that this is the worst you will see him on that end, as he'll finally have a full offseason to work on his game and develop more moves. up until this time he has been able to overpower any defender and he was usually quicker than them too. now he's playing against better competition and he's going to have to develop a better game.

as for the oden v. durant debate, what do you think OKC would have done with the #1 pick that year? i'll save you the time, they would have taken oden. anyone that year would have taken oden because you build around the big man. good scoring wings are a dime a dozen and besides what has durant really done? he scores but he struggles to defend and his team still sucks balls.

Re: Bill Simmons, the one-trick bitter douchebag

He was supposed to be a once in a generation center, which means he should be averaging at LEAST a double double and two blocks in his rookie year but it hasn't worked out that way.

Well, he wasn't SUPPOSED to have microfracture knee surgery, but he did. That doesn't necessarily mean he won't be a "once a generation big man", just that if he is, it will be delayed. He just turned 21. There's still a lot of time left in his "generation".

Meanwhile, Durant is a top 5 scorer in the league.

Who is sitting home watching the playoffs on TV. The last scoring champion to win an NBA title was a guy named Jordan. Durant is no Jordan.

If I had to do it all over again, I'd still take Greg because he's still very young and he is a better complement to the people we have already. At worst, he'll become a rebounding/shotblocking role player and I think that's better than adding another first option when we already have Roy.

I hate to sound like a broken record, but defense and rebounding wins titles. Oden gives us both (already - much more in the future), Durant would have given us neither. It all goes back to what KP said after the draft - Durant has the potential to win multiple scoring titles, Oden has the potential to win multiple championships.

A rookie season like the other dominating centers. Like DRob's 24/12, one win which Shaq had a 28 reb, 15 block performance. A season like that! If Oden gave us a rookie season like Shaq's or DRob's, we would've won 65 games easy.

How old was DRob as a rookie, 25?

Shaq's 28 reb/15 blk game was in his 2nd season, not his rookie year. As great as Shaq was as a rookie, he couldn't lead his team into the playoffs. They won 41 games and another trip to the lottery.

BTW, those 28 rebounds and 15 blocks are both career highs for Shaq. In terms of defense and rebounding, Shaq pretty much stopped caring after his 2nd season. Imagine how dominant Shaq would have been if he would have put as much effort into rebounding and defense as he did on offense, trashing ex-teammates, making bad movies, bad rap records and playing cops and robbers.

How many points did Shaq drop in the 28 reb 15 blk game?

I think Oden is going to average something like 15 pts and 10 reb next year. He will be fine.

The Magic only won 21 games the season before. I'd say a 20 game improvement is very impressive.

I've already stated that I prefer Oden over Durant for our team. I agree with you.
