Re: OT: Sergio a starter for NY!

Sergio wasn't even good enough to get PT on a crappy SAC team with a coach who likes to run.

1. Paul Westphal is a crappy coach.
2. Paul Westphal knows his career is tied to the GM's prize rookie. Who is a PG.
3. The other PG is paid a lot more and can play off the ball while Evans dominates it.
4. Sergio played a lot more earlier in the season. And Sacramento won a lot more. Since Sergio was glued to the bench, Sacto's record is a lot worse.

He was racking up DNPs like crazy - and all the while the Sergio fanboys were making excuses about why the Kings NEEDED to play Evans to justify his high draft position and NEEDED to play Beno Udrih because he makes more money than Sergio.

Oh, hey, I'm a fanboy!

Just like they always made excuses for him in Portland.

While clearly your answer is that Nate's a great coach, because everybody he benches deserves it, right? Are you a secret McMillan fanboy?

Newsflash! When you're good, you don't need excuses. When you're the third best PG on one of the worst teams in the league, that speaks volumes for your worth as a player.

So, when Miller was behind Blake in the Blazers' rotation he was bad, but now he's good? And last year Bayless was worse than Sergio, because he was behind him in the rotation? And I guess Sergio is now good because he's starting?

Re: OT: Sergio a starter for NY!

I just tuned in. Sergio drove all the way to the hoop --- and passed up the layin to pass it back out to Gallinari. I know Bogut has 5 blocks, but come on Sergio, shoot the thing.

Re: OT: Sergio a starter for NY!

Final line: 4pts, 2-8fg, 1ast, 3turns, 8 steals in 29 minutes. He got his teammates plenty of WIDE OPEN looks, but they were bricking.

In the few minutes I saw it was: wide open shot -- clank on front of the rim; wide open shot -- clank on front of rim; wide open shot -- clank on front of rim. Hilarious. The Garden was like a morgue. The boos sounded like zombies groaning.

Re: OT: Sergio a starter for NY!

+/- for one game doesn't mean much. I mean, Roy was like -21 last night, but he was clearly our most effective player late in the game.

Sergio needs some trust from his coach. He's still playing a bit conservatively. But he's a clear upgrade over Duhon.

And the Knicks, who play at one of the fastest paces in the league scored a whopping 67 points with Sergio running the show.

Yeah, that went well.

Are you under the impression that that comment showed so much insight it was worth repeating? If so, you are definitely in need of excuses.

Seriously? His team just scored 67 points with him running the point. They were averaging 101.5 PPG with Duhon running the point.

Re: OT: Sergio a starter for NY!

Yea. I watched the game.

Re: OT: Sergio a starter for NY!

So was this game from Sergio final proof that steals are no measure of good defense?

Be interesting to see what the coach thought of his game. Hope he hasn't blown it, because he's about the only reason to watch the Knicks.

Steve Blake next up in the Ex-Blazer department, and possibly Travis too!

Whatever. Sergio's team just scored a whopping 67 points with him running the offense. What's the excuse tonight? His team mates? His coach? Sun was in his eyes?

Like I said, when you're good you don't need excuses. Sergio has always needed them - lots of them Tonight is no exception. Same old same old.

Re: OT: Sergio a starter for NY!

Dude, they just started 3 new players, and the team as a whole shot 33% from the field. Sergio got his teammates WIDE OPEN shots, and they couldn't make anything.

It seems like you clearly have a vendetta against the guy. I can't understand why you deny it.

Vendetta? Nope. It just cracks me up the way his fanboys continue to defend his monumental suckage and make excuses wherever he plays.

I prefer to root for my team, not a guy who is sucking elsewhere.

Re: OT: Sergio a starter for NY!

What's the surprise? Everyone knows that Duhon isn't good enough to start, while Sergio started a number of games for us.

After his first game with the Knicks, many on the RealGM Knick message board (I read it because a thread on this board linked to it) said that this was the best PG they had had in many years. As I noted in that thread, D'Antoni gave Sergio 26 minutes and Duhon only 21. I knew then that Sergio would probably start the very next game.

That doesn't make Sergio good enough to start.

Re: OT: Sergio a starter for NY!

I watched the knicks play the thunder the other night and Sergio was driving and kicking it out for wide open shots all night and no one was making them. Sergio isn't their problem.

Re: OT: Sergio a starter for NY!

Sergio absolutely can't be the problem, I mean, he was drafted by the Blazers wasn't he? Doesn't fucking everybody drafted by the Blazers turn to gold?:ohno:

Re: OT: Sergio a starter for NY!

This thread must be part of the Utah hangover?

Re: OT: Sergio a starter for NY!

How does a D'Antoni-led operation score only 67 points??

Low self-esteem? :dunno:

Re: OT: Sergio a starter for NY!

8 steals.

Only 1 knick has ever stolen 9.

Who was the last Blazer player to steal 8 in a game?

Re: OT: Sergio a starter for NY!

lol..... 52 point game? The day Sergio drops 52 points in a single game, I will allow this comparison.

Well, it took Miller 11-1/2 years to do it once, so I guess if Sergio does it sooner he's clearly better than Miller by your way of thinking?

And Miller's most 3pt goals in a game is 3. Sergio made 4 in a game last year.

Sergio's assists per 48 = 11.2 season, 11.1 career.

Andre's assists per 48 = 8.5 season, 10.0 career.

Obviously there will be no comparison allowed until the day Miller can do the same.

Re: OT: Sergio a starter for NY!

Ah yes, Sergio the Garbage Time King who pads his stats in meaningless garbage time minutes for crappy teams is suddenly better than a guy who has put up better stats for far longer as a starter.

I'm really bummed that SAC traded Sergio. Garbage Time Knick just doesn't have the same ring to it. However, after what I saw tonight, I think it's safe to say ANY minutes played for the Knicks for the rest of the year will be, by definition, garbage time.
