I think it's embarrasing when someone thinks that just because someone thinks a player is a dick/asshole on the court that means they think he's that way off the court.

I think this article speaks louder than anything. I have also had the opportunity to meet Shaq through work, and he is one of the nicest people ever. 4 years after I met him he still remembered my name, and that I had 3 children. He asked about all of them and how we were doing. The world needs more peple like him. He is a big kid who loves life.

I know Dennis Rodman through business associates, and have also been out drinking with him on occasion. He can be one of the nicest guys in the world and he can be one of the biggest jerks as well. I am sure Shaq has a huge heart. but it doesn't mean he can't be an asshole at times. And I do not feel embarrassed to say it.

But now that I think of it, I do some pretty nice things too. And I'm a dick. LOL!

I think Shaq is great. I really wish I could understand the deal between him and Joel. It is so wierd to see them laughing at times and then getting t's the next.

the stuff he said about Oden barely registers probably because he's consistently proven to be an ass for his whole career. He's had his funny moments, but more often then not I've laughed at (not with) or rolled my eyes at his dirt poor man's Ali impression and witless ego blatherings, to the point I now largely tune it out. My real gripe with him (and this is on the league too) is how the biggest guy in the league has been allowed to make a mockery of the rules. Remember how great it was when he would elbow Sabas in the face and it would always be a foul on AS's face? And then he'd talk trash about making him cry post game? Your head is lost up your ass if you really think I'd enjoy that sort of ugly crap from my rooting interest.

...and to the OP, he's a dick on the court. If you can't separate the two, it's not us that should be embarrassed

I don't think there is anything at all embarrassing about pointing out someone's obvious flaws. Shaq, like most people is a complex individual. You get the good with the bad. He, at times, publicity embarrasses himself with his own behavior (and I'm not even referring to his acting or "rap" careers). He can also, apparently be very kind and generous. One behavior doesn't invalidate the other.

Fuck Dennis Rodman--that guy's a fucking joke! It's amazing how big of a pussy somebody can be, even when they're as big as "The Worm" is. Seriously, fuck that guy. I loved him as a player, way back when, but my opinion of him as a person will never waver after the run-in I had with him in 2004 (at a Korean BBQ joint in Huntington Beach).

Shaq, on the other hand, is the man!!! I've got nothing but good things to say about Shaq as a person. Absolutely awesome dude. I first met him during his rookie season and, like MM, the guy still remembers my name to this day (even though he calls me by my nickname whenever I've spoken to him). Just a great, great guy.

I'm glad this was bumped, because I was going to bump it anyhow.

After seeing Shaq's act AGAIN against Przy, I was reminded why I can't stand the guy on the court. He's a bully who has the teachers on his side. If he acted as professionally on the court as he does off of it, I'd have a positive image of him. Instead, he bounces his balls off of Przy's head, repeatedly, and the refs laugh about it. I can't stand him.

I remember when he slammed on Dudley then pushed him down, and Dudley got up and threw the ball at his back.

I also hate Shaq, because of the way the refs have officated him throughout his career (well, mostly when he was a Laker).
