The team probably allowed him to return home if he's in a dead period of his rehab - just like they let Raef spend the entire year last year in Iowa.
He would fly in for checkups just like Raef did. Do you really think him being in Milwaukee caused him to rerupture his tendon? They can't monitor him taking a shower, and he probably follows a strict guideline. He won't be able to play again this year (even if he hadn't reruptured), and his rehab is a long one - there is no harm in allowing him to be in Milwaukee where most of his kids grandparents are as well as his wife's family.

He did this at home. Where does he spend his off seasons? In Milwaukie. Where do you think most of his recreational activities takes place? In Milwaukie, WI. I'm sure he owns plenty of toys like a motorcycle, a jet ski, tons of things. They say he did it in the shower. That was his excuse. No one knows that for sure. We can only take his word for it. Letting him go, they basically took their eye off the ball with him. They should have kept him here so they could have kept a close eye on him with any and all activities. And really because he is being paid and is an employee of the Blazers. That shouldn't have been to much ask.
What? No one came to pick him up? The Blazers could have at least sent HCP, err I mean "THE" out to help with his bags. No wonder he was pissed off.My brother called me last night - he was at PDX coming home from vacation and he saw Pryz in baggage claim severely limping and said he looked really pissed off. He was carrying his own duffel bag and it was a real struggle for him. He had to walk across the street (where the taxis are) and there was his driver and a Mercedes. It took him several minutes to get into the vehicle. At that point I hadn't heard he reinjured his knee. Poor guy.

Really? You think he was out on a jetski or a motorcycle three months after breaking his kneecap and rupturing his patella tendon? Really? Greg just now got back on a treadmill with lesser injury and you think Joel is out there doing jetskis?
He probably actually slipped in the shower, it's really not that much of a reach. Most athletes have clauses in their contract that if they get injured on motorcycles or any other dangerous vehicle/activity their contracts can be voided. Do you really think Joel is going to risk 8 million dollars for a joyride during rehab? I mean come on.
I'd rather a trusted employee be rehabbing where he feels most comfortable especially if it lifts his spirits. If he's in a dead period between where he no longer needs daily treatment but he can't yet do physical activity to regain muscle then I say let him stay home. We also don't know how long he's been in Milwaukee - could have been a couple days just visiting family, might have been here for a while.
But clearly Joel was out there doing jumps on jetskis and joined a motorcycle gang where he has to ride vigorously.
His career is likely over. At best, I think he's third string. Playing that Samaki Walker role now.

It's pretty clear Joel was dealing drugs on the mean streets of Milwaukee and a local rival took out his right knee with a tire iron.

The fact is we don't know how he re ruptured it. We do know that he was in Milwaukee someplace when it happened. During a time when the season was still in full force. Joel should have been here in Portland with his teammates at least until the end of the season. They could have continued to monitor him and see to it that he was doing the right things in the process. That shouldn't be too much to ask. They are paying him an awful lot of money to be an employee here. Whether it's good for his spirits or not.
Get well Vanilla Gorilla
I am well, thank you.

Put me in the "bullshit coverup" camp.
Dude was probably in the middle of getting it on with his wife and something went horribly wrong.![]()
