Re: Przy re-injures his patella!

When I had my ACL reconstruction a couple months ago taking a shower was definitely the hardest daily activity I had to do. It's probably one of the more likely places to aggravate an injury. Your exercises are so controlled and your thinking so much of how to protect the knee during those times that they are fairly safe. But during normal everyday actions you kind of forget your not 100%, it only takes a fraction of a second to move the wrong way and something tears.

Then take a bath.

Or is that too complicated?

Re: Przy re-injures his patella!

I doubt it'd be advisable for many 7'1 guys who just underwent reconstructive knee surgery to take a bath.

Why? I would think it's safer than standing/balancing on wet tile.

Edit - Never mind. I googled and answered my own question.

Could you explain? Because he could get an extra long tub?

My friend slipped in the shower, landed on her arm and broke it. Had to get herself to the ER with busted arm. She said the hardest part was getting her bra on one handed.

Re: Przy re-injures his patella!

After everything that Pryz has done for this team over the last several years, you questioning his motivations to rehab at his home vs. from a hotel near the practice facility is laughable. So many fucking armchair quarterbacks on here. He most likely had full permission from the team for rehabbing at home, and was getting weekly if not daily updates from both him and his medical people.

+1

Get well soon Joel.

Go Blazers

Pryzbilla re-injures knee...

http://realgm.com/src_wiretap_archives/65197/20100307/przybilla_re_injures_knee_slipping_in_shower/

Joel Przybilla re-injured his surgically-repaired right knee on Saturday and will require another surgery, the team said Sunday.

Przybilla re-injured the knee when he slipped while entering the shower at his home in Milwaukee.

He flew to Portland on Saturday and had a magnetic resonance imaging test Sunday morning at the office of team doctor Don Roberts. The MRI showed a tear of the patella tendon that was repaired.

a source said because this is a re-injury, the timetable for his return can be more difficult to determine.

Re: Pryzbilla re-injures knee...

Appreciate the late breaking news.

Re: Przy re-injures his patella!

I'm in the "cover up" camp. He probably tripped over Greg Oden's dick.

This sucks. I'm not giving up on him though.

This is just throwing sand in our face after kicking us in the balls.

When will the bad man stop hurting us?

I think it's a career ender.

:( because we love and appreciate Joel.

This is probably going to force the Blazers into pushing Luxury Tax territory next season. With Joel getting injured again, there's no way that he doesn't exercise his option for another year with the Blazers. Since they won't be able to count on him playing for sure, they'll have to make a push to re-sign Camby and probably will have to overpay to do it since there are a lot of teams with cap space. According to Storyteller's site, the Blazers are committed to close to $60 million next season for 11 players. Add Camby, a first round pick, and a couple of cheap players and Paul Allen will be writing a check to the NBA next year.

It could be, I suppose, but I certainly don't see why some of you are jumping to this conclusion until we hear something from the doctors. It's certainly a major setback to the timetable for his recovery, but is there any information out there that says that the prognosis is any worse than the 6-8 month recovery projection that he had after his first surgery? Not that I've seen.

Joel wasn't a leaper but he was a quick jumper. This is what made him so effective on defense.

Two patella tendon ruptures, he's going to be a liability on BOTH ends now.

He gave us a lot of good years but I think Przybilla is done. If he does come back he's going to be a shell, unfortunately.

I agree. Right now, there is still a possibility that he'll be ready to go before the start of next season.

as much as i like pryzbilla i think this will be his last season as a blazer....

i be seesin ya sorry joel!

It's all just unbelieveable . . . one after another after another.

Did ABM make a thread in the preseason predicting that we were going to go injury free all season??????????

Is it too early to start referring to him as JPEC? He'll likely miss the 41 required to have is contract largely covered by insurance. He and Miller could likely garner a very nice piece for a team looking to cut costs in the face of a declining cap.

We re-started Joel's career, gave him a nice contract and embraced him in the community. He'll be well-compensated next year for likely a small contribution. I have no idea what occurs when a tendon ruptures. I don't know if it ruptured in the same area. I don't know if it makes repair more difficult. All I know is that I can't think of many success stories with tendon ruptures at his age.

Good luck, Joel. I can't speak for anyone else, but I wish you nothing but the best. Hopefully you can make it all the way back.

If he is done for, I wonder how much this changes the complexion of the Oden vs Durant debate. You could make a pretty good case that we could've contended for a title with a healthy Przybilla at center and Durant at SF.

As it is, had we drafted Durant we'd probably be putting all our hopes in guys like Camby and Pendergraph to man the middle. Not a great solution.

I disagree. What I've read indicates he won't be back until December at the earliest.

All we can do is sit back and see how the story ends. No use in frettin. :ohno:

Read from a reliable source, e.g. his doctors, or from some random guy on the internets?

Can't it be both? We don't know for sure that the random guy on the internet isn't one of his doctors (or all of them sharing one net identity).

If there's one thing I've learned after 15 years of using the internet, it's that people don't post their opinions for all to see on the net unless they are properly informed. This is the Internet, not some friends bullshitting over drinks.

Most folks take over a year to recover from such injuries, so just based upon that fact it is a pretty sure thing it will take him into deep next year to recover. Then if you add in the fact that most folks with severe knee injuries don't start playing up to snuff until 1 year after the comeback (so 2 years in). I am hoping the best for Joel, but I wouldn't depend on him for future needs.
