Jason Quick is reporting on The Game that Outlaw will be back shortly after the All Star break.

Report: Outlaw back on court in February

According to JQ on 95.5, Outlaw has been cleared for contact practice as of the first practice after the all-star break, and he is expected to be able to play within that first week. Again, coming from Quick, so take it however you will.

Damn you--beat me by seconds!

Re: Travis Outlaw - back after the All Star break

oh good another player that will need time. maybe we can trade him before the deadline

Re: Travis Outlaw - back after the All Star break

Hopefully a team will waive the physical and trade for him. He and Blake woul dlook great somewhere else. Batum, Webster and even Cunningham are all more well rounded players than Outlaw is, or ever will be

Re: Report: Outlaw back on court in February

Where is Travis going to play? I love what Nicolas and Martell are bringing at SF. And LA is at PF. I like Pendergraph, and Dante is coming along nicely. I guess we can rest Juwan a little bit, and go small with LA at center a lot. Or play Juwan and Travis together up front.

It'll be interesting to see how Nate uses Travis when he comes back, and going back to square one with a lot of bodies and not enough minutes to go around.

This is gonna get crazy! For a team with tons of injuries, we now have too many bodies!

BYE BYE MARTELL!

Webs has done pretty well lately and with his good contract, I think it's time to use him and some of the others for a trade. This needs to happen to maximize our assets

if outlaw is coming back and the batum love fest continues.... im thinking martell and blake will be shipped out for a big man. question is.. which big man?

Travis can still do one thing better than Batum (and indeed, anyone on the team other than Roy), and that is create his own offense. He's also proven to be clutch. Is there anything Webster does that Batum can't do better?

yeah, I agree. All these things we've seen from our young third string guys. :ohno: where will they all fit!? Bench time for many. Batum will get less looks.

travis is a redundant piece at this point. hopefully he gets moved out as i like Dante's game better than Trouts at this point.

Hopefully Nate cuts Batum's minutes; this has the added benefit of protecting Martell's confidence and gives Travis the green light to take those really crazy circus shots of his.

Damn, we have only one game after the AS break and before the trade deadline. Very little opportunity to show his health to potential trade partners.

I think his expiring contract and bird rights would mean more to the team that was trading for him than his injury status on that particular day.

The one person I was glad to have out of the rotation is coming back..... great.

I see no problem.

Travis will play PF mostly I assume.

Martell and Blake are imminently expendable at this point. So is Travis for that matter, but he may actually have more utility as the Blazers are currently constructed than the other two (once he's back in shape).

I tell you what, Bayless has played really well the last 2 games! He is always on attack mode and can basically get to the free throw line at will! He HAS to get more minutes!

And is also the very 1st player to arrive at the arena EVERY game to work out!

Very cool. I know a lot of posters hate on the guy, but I look forward to seeing him back on the court.

I've been preaching for a trade to balance the roster before Rudy came back. I like having 8-9regular rotation guys with the other 3 getting spot minutes. KP is going to have to decide who is the core 8 and be willing to trade a valuable assett to get a big man and to decrease the tension of certain players not playing.

It's an unpopular choice, but I think Bayless and Rudy are the ones with the most trade value that the Blazer can risk moving. Not both, but one of them with an expiring contract or two.

Agreed. I'm happy for Travis and his fans, but I enjoy watching the Blazers more when Outlaw is not available.

Ed O.

Cunningham, pending any trades, will see his playing time decrease to almost nothing when Travis comes back.

I don't understand how this isn't anything but good for us. We DESPERATELY need some offense in the 2nd unit. And Travis plays PF much better than SF. It means we can move Batum back to the starting lineup and run this rotation

PG - Miller, Bayless, Blake

SG - Roy, Rudy, Bayless

SF - Batum, Webster

PF - Aldridge, Outlaw

C - Howard, Aldridge

Cunningham and Pendergraph play only a few minutes when we need some fouls.

Roy coming back will create a bigger logjam than Outlaw returning.

Blake's gotta go.

Blake's gotta go.

Blake is the one who will complain the least if his minutes are decreased. Also, his contract is up at the end of the year so if the Blazers don't want him, they simply don't resign him.

Not sure it's Blake who's gotta go.

The risk with keeping Blake is that Nate will play him ahead of Bayless or Miller.

And his contract is pretty lucrative to other teams, so he could help us bring a big back.
