Re: True Hoop Oden interview

Fun interview. Thanks for the post.

Re: True Hoop Oden interview

He sounds like a guy who has zero trust in his body. I think the mental aspect of his recovery will be the biggest hurdle.

And I really hope he does follow through in getting his body checked out by various doctors. Maybe there could be some vitamin/herbal supplements he could take to strengthen his bones and joints.

Re: True Hoop Oden interview

It was really positive to hear that he is now eating much different. That in itself, could be a "corner turner" in his career.

Re: True Hoop Oden interview

He's got serious body alignment issues. Needs to work with someone who knows how help him make some sort of adjustment, if that's possible at all.

Yeah, but do you really believe him though? Yesterday someone on this board said he'd seen him in a mall chugging down hot dogs. How he looks at the moment is also something that would point to him not eating well and just saying the right thing... It was weird when he couldn't go into any details about it when Abbott asked him.

I wonder if he's hired a nutritionist and/or personal chef. If you're earning millions doing sports, that would seem like a no-brainer to me.

Re: True Hoop Oden interview

Hopefully any spot for "Boniva" he does has nothing to do with the photo's he shot with his phone....

I've never agreed with you more. I've found diet to be an important aspect of health that you can control and lots of H2O as one of the true keys. That he sounds focused on this at 22 is a positive result of his setbacks in my eyes. Hopefully we'll see the results :)

And the Lord said unto Oden: "Harken my son, for you are faced with a great decision. I have given you the frame of a titan, but now thou must choose. Will you have limbs with the strength of Hercules, or the wang of a pornstar?"

And lo, the laughter of Oden was heard across the land for many a day, and there was much rejoicing amongst the womenfolk......but the basketball fans did don sackcloth and ashes, and creep away in despair.

Hilarious. :)

Re: True Hoop Oden interview

Greg Oden is morphing into Keyser Soze.

Re: Greg Interview on ESPN.com

It was posted as the true hoop interview, like it is.

Hope so. I complained about his eating habits right away. Just terrible.

As for vitamins/supplements mentioned above - the key takaway is that they are SUPPLEMENTAL. You cannot make up for a poor diet with pills. There is no pill that replaces all of the unknown micronutrients that you get from eating large amounts of both raw and cooked produce.

If Oden wants to have the healthiest body possible for him he needs to eat a very healthy diet - and even then it will take months before real results can occur. Cell replacement takes time.

Re: True Hoop Oden interview

How proud you must be to have complained about it so early.

Do you have something worthwhile to contribute aside from negative and personal attacks on another poster?

Yes: my Bone Eva/Boniva pun was spectacular, but nobody even responded. Forgive me if I'm bitter about someone trying to clamber on the "I complained about his diet first!" bandwagon.

Oh Bone Eva!

Damn BC I totally missed that.

Good one.

Re: True Hoop Oden interview

Not Boniva!

There's a belief out there that bisphosphonates like Boniva, Fosamax, Zoledronate, et al., make your bones brittle. If I were Greg I'd stick to OTC supplements at this point in his life.

I got it! See post #13.

Lets pray to god that Oden doesn't get his medical advice from this forum or from TV commercials with Sally Field.
