No Ginobili and likely no Duncan. They can still be dangerous as they showed last night when they beat the Mavs. However, if we lose to them when they're missing 2 of their Big 3 it will be INEXCUSABLE! This is a big game and we need to get our bad road game play turned around. I'd like to see us use Bayless a significant amount of time and take it to Parker.

Re: We BETTER beat the Spurs tonight!

It is a big game, but it would hardly make or break our season. Keep it in perspective. A win won't suddenly grant us the 2nd seed, and a loss wouldn't put us in the lottery.

That being said, I think you're right in that we have a big opportunity to play a hot team without one or two of their top players, and it would be pretty disappointing if we didn't take advantage.

Re: We BETTER beat the Spurs tonight!

Inexcusable? I disagree. The second game of a back to back. The Spurs are still the Spurs, even without Duncan and Manu. Fast guards that can penetrate to the hoop usually give us fits, and Tony Parker is the embodiment of that. I do agree that Bayless should see some time as I think he's got the best shot at staying in front of Parker. Hopefully they won't have a big hole to climb out of at halftime again. I think if they keep this game close they'll have a real shot at winning it in the end. This would be a huge win assuming we can then turn around and take care of business at home a few days later against the same squad.

If we do win tonight, I'll put it my top five big wins for the season.

It's the 2nd game of a back to back for San Antonio too.

Didn't they just beat Dallas?

by 18 with Parker driving around Kidd all night. I'm sure they'll try to slow him down with most every wing and guard they have but I'd stick Batum on him in the 4th.

I'm expecting another night of home team flop city and the refs playing along. Probably best for Nate to protect his best players foul wise in the first half and just try to hang around to be in position to win at the end.

Re: We BETTER beat the Spurs tonight!

We should beat the hell out of them tonight. Outside of the Big 3 the Spurs talent is marginal in my opinion. We'll have size, speed, and youth against them tonight. To lose this game would be inexcusable imo.

Re: We BETTER beat the Spurs tonight!

The Spurs almost beat Denver without any of their Big 3. That said, if we win this game, everyone will say it doesn't count because they didn't all play.

wow...wish I saw this thread before posting my prediction

Re: We BETTER beat the Spurs tonight!

Word is that Duncan will play tonight. I'm pretty sure that's what Wheels said this morning on The Game. Pop wanted to rest him the first game of the back to back.

If we lose, be prepared for MIXUM and more of his troll threads.

hah, hah. Awesome statement thats so true!
....from espn...
Duncan was scratched a half-hour before tip-off Tuesday night because of a sore right knee, and Spurs coach Gregg Popovich said after the game he didn't know the severity of the injury. Popovich said Duncan would be evaluated by doctors Wednesday morning, putting his status for this game in doubt.
I hope Nate puts Bayless on Tony Parker for a little bit.
I sure hope Batum is on top of his game last night and throws in a few 3's like he did last night. ROY was 0-4 for 3's against the Rockets as I think he will be pressured (from Parker) and will only take short little jumpers instead.

Re: We BETTER beat the Spurs tonight!

I heard this game was removed from the ESPN docket. Is it CSN only again?

They punked Dallas last night with only Parker playing. The Spurs never roll over and die. I expect a very difficult game for Portland tonight, which a very small chance of a victory. I don't think Portland has won in SA since 2002.

Re: We BETTER beat the Spurs tonight!

That's too bad that the Spurs don't require a player to participate in one practice after missing a game, while we do with when it comes to G.O.
Damn... but if we can pull this one out, that'd be huge.

Re: We BETTER beat the Spurs tonight!

Maybe Duncan wont play tonight.

The Spurs have filled their 15th roster slot with a 25-year-old Englishman named Pops.
Pops Mensah-Bonsu, the talk of the NBA Developmental League, signed a 10-day contract with the Spurs on Wednesday. Mensah-Bonsu, a 6-foot-10 forward, averaged 26.6 points, 13 rebounds and 2.4 assists in eight games with the Austin Toros.
On Feb. 22, he turned in a 39-point, 18-rebound game against Colorado.
Mensah-Bonsu played collegiately at George Washington University, but went unselected in the 2006 draft. He appeared in 12 games with Dallas that season before landing in the D-League.
The signing of Mensa-Bonsu takes the Spurs out of consideration for other free-agent buyout candidates. He should provide needed depth on the front line for the Spurs, especially with Tim Duncan battling a sore knee.

See I think the exact opposite, there is nothing inexcusable about losing to a team from Texas on their homecourt. The Spurs have multiple championship rings and know how to play through injuries and win. The injuries give us a better chance but this is still going to be a very difficult game for the Blazers.

The good news is that eventually the Blazers were able to give themselves a chance to win at the last second last night just like Houston did at the Rose Garden. It tells me the Blazers legitimately deserve to be in the play off discussions... they're able to compete effectively with the other play off teams... but WE NEED HOMECOURT to have any chance in the play offs and that's the case for the Rockets as well.

Re: Duncan out tonight

I'm not one to wish an injury on an opposing team's player, but on the other hand, I do expect the Blazers to take advantage of this situation. We need a road win.

Re: We BETTER beat the Spurs tonight!

I have a feeling he won't play............. or maybe it's the Mexican food!

Re: Duncan out tonight

Again I have to say that this is essentially a MUST win for us. If we can't beat a crippled team our confidence will be shot.

Re: Duncan out tonight

we arent beating the spurs tonight

So what was Dallas' excuse last night?

Re: Duncan out tonight

That might be funny if we didn't currently have a big man on our roster sitting out this game with a knee issue.

I was being sarcastic as posters have said Greg Oden has "pussitis" because he isn't playing.

Except unlike duncan, he is cleared to play. Too bad he does have pussitis.

Blake and Webster were cleared to play as well. That worked out well.
