Merry Christmas: Denver @ Portland Thread

I'm really starting to think that the 3 guard lineup is the key to Blake's resurgence. When he's in there with Roy and Bayless (or Roy and Miller), he simply gets better looks than when he's in with Webster. And he seems to do a decent job defensively in that role, too. Let's face it--despite being 170 lbs, Blake is the best small forward on the team right now.

Everything went right for my Christmas with the exception of getting comped a Lexus Level wristband. Getting B Roy for the T Shirt exchange and then seeing him go off for 40+ was the icing on the cake.

I'm home for the holidays and was at the game tonight. My eyes welled up with tears quite a few times I'm not gonna lie. What this team is doing right now is incredible, and there is absolutely no place in professional sports like the Rose Garden. It's a thing of beauty. Then talkin Blazers with fellow fans on the MAX ride home, so fucking awesome!! Looking at our upcoming schedule, there is a very real possibility that we could run this win streak to 8 or 10 games. Go Blazers!!

Everyone played well tonight. It was amazing. An epic game to be at.

Hey, that ticket looks familiar! :)

Here's a cool video condensed version of the game, with the call coming from Mike & Mike, instead of ESPN:

You know, after watching that video clip I would so far as to say that Bayless had a good game. Sure the points werent there and he was forcing the drives to the hoop but that a good thing in the long run. The attention and respect that the Nuggets gave really opened up Roy and Blake for some big 3's and spread the floor. For someone who supposedly "cant see that floor" very well and "isnt a true a PG" he sure as hell looked like one against the Nuggets. This kid is growing up and maturing, fast.

As for the taking it to the hoop and getting rejected numerous times ... I love it. For 2 reasons. One, it sparked something in him and later in the game he took it in and dunked and then had an "and-one" a little later. And two, that shows that he is getting it and learning. 31 point games are great but games where he learns something from the game and has to adapt his game and find the open man are so much more important.

birdman is an elite shotblocker, it took guts to keep taking it into him, and he should have an easier time most nights. what he has to learn to do more consistently is dish once he gets the shot blocker in the air.

What was interesting listening to McMillan talk to Wheeler on the post game show was that he referred to bayless as a point guard. "He was good tonight he set up Blake for some threes". (Not a word for word quote). Before this game McMillan was always saying that Bayless was playing the SG position well. Its nice to see Bayless gaining the respect of McMillan.

Our little Bayless is growing up. :)

Bayless had 7 assists and one turnover I think he's getting the pg position well.
