Mexico legalizes drugs

Can someone explain to me how, if everyone's allowed a "personal use" amount, where they get it from? If there's a limit of X grams of something for personal use, who's the guy with 50X grams selling to these personal users? Are they going to sell heroin at the Mexican Wal-Mart?

The maximum amount of marijuana for "personal use" under the new law is 5 grams — the equivalent of about four joints. The limit is a half gram for cocaine, the equivalent of about 4 "lines." For other drugs, the limits are 50 milligrams of heroin, 40 milligrams for methamphetamine and 0.015 milligrams for LSD.

Tijuana just got a little more popular.

You answered your own question. Basically they are saying they won't go after end users. Dealing is still an offense. It will reduce crowding in the prisons and the court system, which will save them money in the long run.

They will not solve their problems until they deciminalize drugs period. Prohibition does not work. It never has, and never will unless you have a big brother society to support it, and even then it's success will be limited at best.

Correct. Have you seen The Union by any chance?

Unsurprising. Mexico is barely a country at this point. There's a thread on this board about President Obama causing a civil war here in the US. Well, in Mexico it's actually happening. They're damn close to becoming like Colombia in the late 80s-early 90s.

It's mainly a marijuana documentary that debunks several myths and talks about marijuana's history. It also goes into more depth about how prohibition has never worked, etc.

About an hour and a half long: The Union

Awesome. I am going to watch that!

Yeah, it's really interesting. Especially when he talks about the history of the "drug."

When we finally pull Blackwater out of Iraq we can send them to Mexico. At US taxpayer expense of course.

was chatting with a mexican bar owner the other day at a restaurant who was sitting next to me...said Mexico right now is basically like Colombia in the 80s or something...really really fucked up.

Now's our chance to move in and take over.

I think it's a plot to lure wealthy American college kids to spend all their money in Mexico, then get kidnapped and held for ransom.

Sweet! Looks like im going to Mexico soon! 2 1/2 hours to lawlessness!

Cost of building a "Keep Out" Fence across Guatemala << Cost of Building a "Keep Out" Fence across the Mexican border.

We should just run down to the canal, that would minimize the amount of fencing. And a moat and a fence >> just a fence.

Yeah, that would give the Mexican cops a good laugh. If you're an American and get caught with drugs I don't care if it is legal, they're going to jack you up until they get a lot all of your money before they let you go.

It's been nice knowing you.

I see you've played Risk before. Keep your borders small rather than large, so you have a chokepoint to mass defenders at. ;)
