Meyers Extended

I really like the idea of playing Meyers at the stretch 4 with Festus at the 5. Crazy length and floor spacing.

If/since they're smart, they hopefully frontloaded the contract.

They can increase (or decrease) the salary by 7.5% every year using the Bird Exception. So instead of a contract that goes up over the next few years, his 4/41M could look like this:

2016-17: $11,286,517
2017-2018: $10,595,506
2018-2019: $9,904,494
2019-2020: $9,213,483

It actually hurts us a bit by adding 600k to next year's run to a lux tax hit, but if you think that we're already going to top that anyway for CJ and our RFAs this year, then it saves 600k 600k in 2018-19 and 2M in 2019-2020 (when we'd be looking at the 3-in-4-years SuperTax).

He gets dudes legitimately mad at him. He doesn't back down. For all the jokes about his Beiber hair, he's easily one of the toughest dudes on the roster.
He's our enforcer, I'm not even joking... Remember the Jimmer incident at the Garden? Dude doesn't put up with bullshit. I'm also sure Marc Gasol legitimately hates him.

What the serious fuck? Good deal....I guess? Maybe he can can and shoit before I go make a sandwich. Maybe he can defend better than a fucking sieve

It's also a pretty awesome trade chip at his price.
Depends on if anyone wants him. We don't know what other teams were offereing, he didn't sign another teams offer sheet.

seems a fairly decent contract if he can stay healthy, his shoulder does worry me but its not a killer contract, if Crabbe goes we do need some guys who can shoot it from outside and none of Plums/Davis/Ezeli can

Boogie as well. With Dwight headed East, we only have a handful of elite centers to worry about. But watching Jordan kill us in the 1st round w/o Meyers was tough.
With Meyers in the lineup he significantly drops Jordan's defensive impact (even then, DJ is phenomenal at recovering still) since he will have to respect Meyers on the perimeter.

Meyers can't play good defense against Jordan because Meyers is awful at pick and roll defense. Jordan doesn't post up at all unlike Cousins or Gasol.

I can deal with that contract it approx 3 million over a cap hold.

Sure he can. He can intentional foul with the best of them. He's a natural at it. He's so good at intentionally fouling he makes it look easy, like he's not even trying.

BNM

So how much did he cost himself by not taking the deal last summer?

I'm not expecting miracles from him but considering all our power forwards and centers are currently at bargain deals (Davis $7M, Ezeli $7M, Plumlee $2M, Vonleh $1.5M, Aminu $7M), I can live with another rotation player at $10M a year. I imagine we might use him as a trade asset in the future and there will be no shortage of suitors.

I think 4/40 was what was offered
