Big pressure on him. I'd say this is the most important single game of his career.

Do we agree to an extension with him? How much money does he want to risk for a bigger payday next summer? How much will the Blazers give him now to avoid paying more next summer? Is he the long term answer as a starter?

Obviously the vast majority of Neil's opinion is already formed. But if Meyers has another zero game it could give Neil a moment of pause. Or if he has a dominant 30 pt game it could be a small indicator of how he plays with pressure. Very interesting storyline tonight.

Great thoughts and questions.. I reserve opinion for now, but man you ar right. Huge game. He needs to do something tonight for sure. First game wasnt anything special really either.
I have him going 3-6 from3 with 8 rebounds and Id say 22 points tonight. I think he is gonna get to the line 7 times tonight and make 6 of them.

Blazers won't extend him, if they do it would make trading him much more difficult. Not saying that I want to trade the guy but we want to keep as many options as possible to improve the team long term on the table.

No; since we are so far under the cap it would be easy. We can absorb the additional salary to match an extended Leonard.

As long as the extension salary is reasonable it'll increase his trade value. If he plays poor between now and a potential trade date his trade value would be less than now regardless. That's my opinion anyways.

Eh. I'm rather ambivalent about signing Meyers.

The main reason is because I can't call him the B word anymore. Incentive: gone.

HAHAHA.. Get used to it!! Hes gonna get extended, kick ass, and we are gonna match. He is here for the long haul. I bought his Jersey dammit!

This why Neil is waiting for the end of season before he puts Paul money up.

I'd rather just sign Matt Boner for cheaper

I would offer him an extension, of 6 mil per year. He might want to lock in that guaranteed money before he's really proven himself to be worth it. Portland gambles on getting a bargain. Meyers doesn't seem like the type that might appreciate the security.

I think his cap hold is 7.7mil or somewhere around that so he wouldn't take 6

His cap hold has no impact on what he'll earn; it only impacts the Blazers salary cap.

His qualifying offer is $4.2mil so that is the one year amount he'd be guaranteed if the Blazers choose to make him a restricted free agent.

Ugh, I was getting high on Meyers because of his playoff performance, but based on his play in the 1st 3 games of the season, I don't even want him in the rotation. If he can start hitting shots, he'll be a good backup though. But the Blazers played their best ball tonight without him.

We looked much better starting the second half with Mo Harkless in place of Meyers. Meyers had the worst +/- on the team at -17. Harkless had the best at +8.

Maybe Harkless should be getting the extension instead of Meyers?

Disappointed in Leonard. Wasn't expecting a huge leap, but I was expecting solid starter play. Unfortunately he just looks "meh", just doesn't play aggressive enough, is too skiddish in the paint offensively.

With Davis, Plumbs and Vonleh all out playing him, I'm afraid there just isn't any room for Leonard in the rotation or future. Guess his ceiling wasn't as high as I hoped.

I don't really get the point of having big men shooters that don't do the things big men are supposed to do. I think you're better off having another guard or wing player in there. The only exception to this is someone who is really really good as a shooter like Durant or Nowitski.

That's what I meant the last couple of seasons when I said that we need traditional forwards, not Aldridge and Batum.

The problem I got is with him it is defense rebounding we got small foward and bench pf have more boards tonight 1 board doesn't make me excited. If dont start doing thing what big suppose to do then you replace him.

Yeah, 1 rebound in 31 minutes. Thats after a game he had 0 points. He wen't 0-4 from three tonight. When that happens he is a big negative to the team. Davis, Plums, Harkless, Aminu bring contributions to the team when they don't score. Meyers, not as much.

One rebound in 31 minutes.
In a perverse sort of way, that is kinda impressive!

I've grown to like Meyers. He seems like a neat kinda guy.

[Amazing music clip - top notch lyrics, singing, musicianship and production values!]

He still looks kinda like a boy battling with men whenever he's near the hoop.
He has improved a lot the last year or so; hopefully he can continue to develop some toughness, and his shot comes back.

last two games.

He must be injured. That's the only thing I can think of for his poor performance. I mean even the opposing player he is guarding is having a field day, and he shut down one of the best offensive centers in the league last year in the playoffs. Something is not ok with young Meyers. Hopefully the Blazers see this and get him checked by a doctor.
