Meyers Leonard...Highest Paid Blazer Big Ever?

With what the game has become, I'll comfortably say that I'd rather have 24-year ole Leonard than the Vanilla Gorilla.

you wanna go back and look at their first 4 years in the league? Don't confuse what we paid for with what Przy became. They are (up to this point in their careers) similar rebounders, with Meyers better on the D end and Przy on the O end. Przy was a blocking beast, but also had less-than-zero offensive game, and was injured/DNP'd more.

Now, you can definitely say that you don't project that type of improvement from Leonard. I'd ask why it's so far out of the realm of possibility. EDIT: I didn't get to follow much last year, but has anyone questioned Leonard's work ethic or inability to improve? Serious question--maybe they have and I missed it.

And while we're at it, Enes Kanter got maxed by our GM last year.

Well, when we brought him in for 2004-2005, we had a 31 year old Theo Ratliff and Ha Seung-Jin, so the center position wasn't exactly a point of strength on that roster, and it was the same guys two years later when we signed him to his extension.

Conversely, we currently have a logjam in the frontcourt. We have Plumlee, Davis, Vonleh, Leonard, and even Aminu playing some time at the four. If we do end up signing someone like Whiteside, that creates even less playing time for someone like Leonard.

Nards was our best interior defender, easily. Remember when he locked up Cousins and held him 4-21 from the field. Cousins looked like a fool.

Name all the other players he played great defense against. I've seen people say Cousins and Gasol and... wait, that's it. He can't guard on the perimeter at all and there aren't very many physical back to the basket centers to worry about. He also sucks at help defense, which is extremely important for a big man. Literally the only reasons he frustrated those two guys is because he is large and fouls a lot.

So one or two games makes him our best interior defender?

So only the two best offensive big men in the game.

So 6 games a year of good defense from Leonard. Nice.

More than 6 games. I've watched it repeatedly. Regardless, I'm interested in resigning Meyers in the 10-12 mil range if we can't get Whiteside or Biyombo.

Mo and Aminu are so similar I think you have to let him walk and re-sign Meyers - even if you do land Whiteside or Dwert.

I actually wouldn't be upset if we re-signed him at 10 million. I think it's all this talk about teams throwing crazy money at players that makes me think he's gonna get 15+ and I'd be pissed if we gave him that.

We offered him that last year. 4/60.

Let Myers walk he is not worth the contract he wants plain and simple but IF i was the GM i would offer the following and IF he takes it great if not thank him for his time and wish him luck with whatever team he signs with.

2 yrs for 14m and i am being generous and factoring in the cap spike if not for the cap spike it would be more like 2 yrs for 10m to 12m

have fun on ANY other team, MEyers.

The official figures were never released from our extension offer last year. Multiple posters on here have heard thats the figure that was offered to him. We even talked about it some at the meet and greets. Join us next time :)

Here is a mention

Type meyers leonard 4 years 60 million into google and youll get hits talking about it. Where were you when this was discussed?

^^^It all stemmed from an off-the-cuff remark by some other team's (CHA?) commentators. Basically it's BS. But if people repeat it enough it must be true!

Not totally true. There are posters on this site that have stated theyve heard from people in thr organization it was true.

Doesnt necessarily mean it is, but its interesting nonetheless.

I disagree. If We land either of those guys we need as many guys as possible who can play PF/SF. We won't need a huge PF. (i.e., we need them both.)

I don't recall that. I'd also like to know who these posters are - there are very few that I'd be inclined to believe.
