The Blazers are on the way to winning the 2020 NBA Championship and Meyers will lead us. Based on Meyers Blazer leading scoring in the Playoffs, documented in the Thread, Leading Blazer Playoff Scorer, his outstanding WCF Game 4 play, being the only Blazer to score 5 consecutive swish3s against GSW in the Playoffs, his NBA Playoff 10 of 13 swish3 record, improved screens, improved defense, improved rebounding, and excellent passing, Meyers has made great strides and will improve even more next year. Until Nurk returns sometime (probably by March) in 2020, Meyers has progressed to starting Center status.

Blazer coaches belatedly made the progression in Games 3 and 4 of the WCF that allowed the step forward, and showed that the Blazers can beat GSW and TOR in the Playoffs by winning Game 4 first half. If we had started Meyers in Game 1 of the WCF, we could have won the WCF! Many times during the season, I have called for Meyers to shoot at least 6 swish3 attempts per half, and WCF Game 4 is the only game all season in which we saw it. And he scored 5 of the 6 for an outstanding 83.3%! If Blazer coaches had continued with passes and plays to continue with 6 swish3 attempts in the 2nd half, we could have won.

Meyers only started 4 games in the past year, games 52, 82, and WCF Games 3 and 4, and he played remarkably well in all of them. Game 52 was our 132-105 win over UTA Jazz that had twice embarrassed us in December. But Meyers embarrassed NBA defensive MVP Rudy Gobert in this game making 4 of 5 of his swish3s and 6 of 7 FGA. Some threads have suggested that we should add Kevin Love at the expense of Meyers, but I think that Meyers is by far the superior player.

Meyers has shown the best scoring efficiency of any Blazer. Meyers led Blazer scoring (30 pts) in WCF Game 4. Meyers scored 85 points on 34 FGA in the Playoffs (an exceptional 2.5 pts/FGA)! No one else has done this!

The mistake that the Blazer coaches made in not playing Meyers in more games and not featuring his exceptional swish3 shooting talent has ended now that the Blazers have shown the potential to beat GSW on the way to the NBA Championship. We have made major progress, have added new talent, and have tested and proved the kind of team synergy and steady progress that will win our 2020 NBA Championship.

You gotta love this optimism:) Not sure if Stotts will play Meyers when we get Alfred Reynoso tho.

The kind of leadership in scoring, continuous improvement, and leadership shown by Meyers is why I think we are on the way to the 2020 Championship. Let's not forget these statistics:
The list of leading statistics for Meyers in the 2019 Playoffs includes the following, which add on to his NBA swish3 Playoff 10 or more (10 of 13, which is 76.9%) record from 2014-2015.
14 of 33 (42.4%) swish3s
34 of 65 (52.3%) FG
eFG% of 63.1%
WS/48 of 0.154
TS% of 61.6
These are impressive numbers not achieved by other Blazers, and the limited sample outplaying of GSW in WCF Game 4 shows the plan for winning the NBA Championship. Not even Kawhi or Kyle or any of the Raptors in winning the NBA Championship achieved the 5 of 6 swish3 scoring produced in those 16 min by Meyers! That also means scoring at 1.56 pts/min!
There is no one on the Blazers, GSW, TOR, or any team that does better than this!

In all of the replies, I see there is no answer to who has equaled Meyers outstanding scoring performance. There is no other Blazer, or any NBA player that can be named, who has achieved 6 of 7 FGA against the defensive MVP and 5 of 6 against GSW in the Playoffs. We have the outstanding scoring talent who will lead us to the 2020 NBA Championship!

Watch Meyers traded in a half hour

Questions, did ML stop anyone in that series? Did his performance make the Blazers win either of those games?

The 2020 NBA Championship Blazers will be
Dame
CJ
Rodney
Zach
Meyers
to start the season.

With Nurk contributing when he can return, and the strong bench play of Skal and others who can develop, we have a 120 points/game scoring power that will win the Playoffs.

Meyers scored swish3s better than any other Blazer, better than either Steph or Seth, in the Playoffs, and nobody scored more than 2.5 points/FGA in the Playoffs! Recognizing the scoring offensive power of Meyers and alternating him with Nurk when he returns will form the additional factor to Dame, CJ, Rodney, and Zach that makes the next big step for us to 2020 NBA Championship!

We learned that we can beat GSW in the 1st half of WCF Game 4 and could have won that game had the Meyers swish3 shooting continued, and will take that Playoff lesson to win it all!

You refuse to recognize NBA leading scoring performance, but Meyers does have the record in the statistical Playoff categories that I have quoted. Now that we know the results of starting Meyers at Center and see what is possible, Blazer coaches will rely on Meyers to start (and play in every game), giving us the added scoring power to win the upcoming 2020 NBA Championship!

He’s gone anyway.

This Whiteside idea is a giant mistake. Meyers is more valuable than Whiteside to the Blazers, and the trade is not progress even if a 1:1 trade! Whiteside was not even in the Playoffs this year, is 30 years old, on the decline, and never showed the scoring efficiency of Meyers. Based on absolutely leading all Blazers, including Nurk, Dame, and CJ in the 5 categories that I referenced here in the Playoffs, Meyers should be starting for us this fall.

The Blazers should back out of this trade and stay with the leading scoring talent that has emerged and continues to grow. The only advantage that Whiteside has in the statistics are rebounds, but Meyer is continuing to improve, and together with Zach, Rodney, and perhaps Skal and new Blazers can win the NBA Championship. This is not the time to give up the emerging offensive power and team cohesiveness that Meyers brings to the Blazers. Blazer coaches, please review this and cancel the deal!

Whiteside didnt have Dame and Mccullom to get him to the playoffs. I mean really??? You use that as an example of ....
