I haven't seen a single Blazers fan EXCITED about a potential Heat trade, but I think most of us would admit it's the most likely. Let's talk about rumors and opinions on what the Heat might/should offer...

Here's something that seems to be in the ballpark (the draft picks would have to be adjusted AND we would probably prefer to have draft picks/value instead of Herro and Robinsons).

The Heat -- as single dance partners -- can fuck allllllll the way off.

+ Martin
- Robinson
+ Lowry's expiring
+ More picks

Still not sure that's enough...
I want to know one thing: which team values Tyler Herro? If we knew that with certainty, we could see the value of a Miami trade.

I'm not a big Herro fan, and he definitely doesn't fit on Portland, but some team, somewhere, has to want him and be willing to give value, right?

Miami seems like one of the worst teams in the NBA we could trade with in terms of assets (the Lakers are worse, the Clippers, and probably a few others) which is frustrating.

Frustrating for Dame.

I read a post on twitter earlier that the Jazz have interest in him which would help us.

To me, a Heat trade only makes sense if Herro can be redirected to another team who would actually give us value for him. I've come around on the idea of a Miami/ Brooklyn 3-way deal with Simmons and picks/prospects coming back. For me to be satisfied, there would need to be at least 4 FRP's, and probably at least 3 of Claxton/Clowney/Whitehead/Jovic/Jaquez

Probably. But I don't care. He could just stay in Portland but he's the one who wants a chance to ... don't care about his feelings one little bit.
Exactly.
I don't think it's as frustrating for Cronin.

You are not getting Claxton or Clowney if Dame goes to Miami. Not a chance in hell IMO. It would be idiotic for the Nets to do so.

To follow up, I think Herro/Robinson to Brooklyn makes a lot of sense in this scenario. Jovic/2 picks from Miami to us, Simmons/Clowney/2 picks from Brooklyn to us. Still feels a little light, but not sure how it needs to be balanced.

You could be right, but if they're able to add Herro and offload Simmons, they certainly need to pay a premium to us for making that happen. What do you think that premium should be?

Someone needs to take Nurk.
Perhaps as a part of that deal if necessary to acquire Claxton, sure. But I wouldn't mind terribly seeing what Nurk looks like on a team centered on running youngsters.

If I am them......draft picks only

Problem is they have the least leverage in all of this. Portland and Miami could pull in Utah, San Antonio, Philly... there's reportedly a number of teams wanting Herro, so play ball or lose out on dumping your guy AND getting one you want...

Is Simons or Herro better? We sure we want Ant over Herro?

I’d take Clowney, Whitehead, Jovic, Simmons, Oneal, Lowry and add an additional 1st (5 total) for Dame, Nurkic outgoing.

Heat get Dame and Nurk

Blazers get Lowry, Caleb Martin, Nikola Jovic, Jaime Jasquez (#18 pick last month)
2024 1st unprotected
2028 1st unprotected
2030 1st unprotected
2027 1st swap unprotected
2029 1st swap unprotected
2026 2nd
2029 2nd
2030 2nd
2026 1st Atlanta from San Antonio
2028 1st Boston from San Antonio
2024 2nd Lakers from OKC

Spurs get Herro

Heat first have to ask OKC to take the 2026 pick unprotected instead of the 2025 protected pick they are now owed. OKC does this as an unprotected pick has way more value and give us one of their least valuable 2nds. This frees up the heat to give us 2024 unprotected.

I actually think this is a solid trade package. 5 years of Heat unprotected picks if they really suck post Dame/Butler run which seems highly possible if not likely. 5 total 1st round picks. 3 quality cheap NBA players in Jovic, Martin, and Jasquez. No long term bad contracts and we get out of Nurks overpaid deal.

If the Heat say it's to much then we say fine, we explore other teams offers. We publicly say we've offered to trade Dame to the Heat but their not willing to accept our offer so we're exploring offers from other teams. That also puts the responsibility on Dame to pressure the Heat to accept the deal if it's truly his #1 destination.

OK let me ask you this. How would you rank the following players in terms of who you would want on your team if you were the Nets? For me, it would be

1)Claxton,
2)Clowney
3) Herro

So I would walk away if I were them

Ant is better. He’s actually shown glimpses of being a lead guard, and makes a flat $25m/year compared to Herro who will make $27, 29, 31 and 33m.

Herro is taller, but not a point guard.

You're completely ignoring dumping Ben Simmons. Without that included, those are false options. With them, I'd go:

1) Dumping Simmons AND getting Herro
2) Claxton
3) Clowney

I think this is decent if Jaquez is added, and would prefer Claxton. But this is close to a good framework.

My concern is that I think Dame was Nurk's stabilizer, and, even at that, we seemed to get one really good game, one decent game and two games that left you wondering who the guy was in the Nurk suit out of every four games. I'd be worried that without Dame he'd go into a complete funk, and the return you could get by including him in a Dame trade would be gone.

I don't see a reason for them to have to dump Simmons.
