The Heat are looking to acquire a point guard through a trade.

Portland signed Andre Miller this offseason and has Jerryd Bayless are their expected point guard of the future, which may make Steve Blake the odd man out.

Miami has a $4 million trade exception from the Jermaine O'Neal deal that would make dealing for Blake easier.

The belief is that Blake would be an upgrade offer Mario Chalmers and Chris Quinn.

The question is will Portland send Blake away to give Bayless more playing time, and take the risk of losing one of the better shooters and passers on the team.

I was just about to post this article. Anyway, the Miami Heat really don't have much to choose from. The future could be Bayless but Blake is probably the best backup PG in the League (or close to).

I'm a fan of buy low-sell high, I'd like to expand this deal to grab Beasley. If he ever gets his shit together he could be a force at the 4/3.

^^^ sweet, Blake for the former #2 overall pick from last year. Awesome!

Key word being 'expanded'.

Obviously a lot more would have to be included.

You right . . . Miami would probably have to include Wade and a future draft pick also.

That would be a big expansion....

Please no more trade rumors. Good lord. Blake for Beasley? Come on. And we are not going to "expand" the deal.

Please for the love of God. STOP.

LOL.

Trade him for Haslem. If you are going to move him, get something we need out of it. I guess if Kp is going to move him. Move him to a place he and wife wouldn't mind living.

If we were going to let Blake go for nothing, we would have let him walk this summer and used the cap space.

Doubt KP wants anything Miami can offer, and it would make more sense to give them Miller than Blake.

I agree. What would be the logic in moving him *now* just for cap relief? We would be taking a huge gamble on Bayless, while gaining nothing that would help the team contend.

If JB was really going to be our PG of the future (very doubtful), then a trade makes sense. But since he;s not, trading Blake makes no sense to me.

If they'd be willing to include Chalmers in the deal, I'd be all in favor.

I can't think of a better b/u PF for us to land than Haslem. I would love to have this guy coming off the bench. Problem is he's Miami's starting PF and they are so thin in the front court. I don't know if Cunningham or Pendergraph would be enough to package with Blake.

It would take Blake, Rudy, and Joel for Beasley and fillers..maybe even a '10 1st round pick..I have no problem losing Blake b/c of Bayless or Rudy b/c of Martell..but I overvalue Joel and would want to see Greg play 1 full injury/foul free season before placing Joel on the blocks.

Steve probably wouldn't mind going back home to play if he couldn't play for us.

I've always thought Blakey was the perfect backup, I just was never happy with him as our starter. I would love to hold onto him in that role.

Portland has no reason to trade Blake, but a deal involving Chalmers could be interesting.

Yeah. I don't see why they would trade Chalmers though. That really wouldn't make much sense.

No it wouldn't make much sense unless we were shipping 'Playless' to them along with Blake.

Maybe something could be worked out to get Haslem and Chalmers in exchange for "Blakey" and Jerryd? I'm on a work computer that filters ESPN, so I can't run the trade checker, but my gut feeling is that it might be close.

Yup, it matches up. I would do that trade in heartbeat. I added Outlaw just for good measure :)

Miller/Chalmers
Roy/Rudy
Batum/Webster
Aldridge/Haslem
Oden/Przybilla

Chalmers just isn't that good. He's a second round pick with a PER that was a shade over 13 as a 22 year-old rookie.

I'm sure they'd prefer to upgrade to Blake while Wade is still around and entering his prime, but I don't think that the Blazers should be all that interested in downgrading at the backup PG spot to Chalmers.

I'm CERTAINLY not going to give up on Bayless to bring him and Haslem in.
