So, he could continue being a coach and get paid.

I think those two things could happen many places.

Would be like saying LeBron would pick Portland this summer to continue to be able to play and get paid.

Are the franchises that could give the most money happy with their coaches?

I have no idea how to measure that. Nor doesn't it really address why Malone would want to come to Portland. I can see why Portland would want Malone.

But to your point, if Portland isn't likely to pay him the most money and/or would be unhappy if they did, then even more reason the fit makes little sense.

Portland's David Adelman is their acting coach.

And he could live at Nike headquarters...

Someone linked a video from a few weeks back after they lost to us where Malone said the players aren’t watching tape. Seems like maybe he lost the locker room. He has always come off as abrasive to me. Kinda like Rick Carlisle.

I’ve always heard he’s a players coach. When you’re coaching professional ego’s though sometimes it can be hard not letting them buy they’re own hype

Malone would be a really good coach but not sure timing is right. What I mean is I think we are a few years away from being a good team and a coach like Malone tend to wear on players after a few years.

He took young players and made them champions. Isn't that what we want/need?

It's a tough call for me. I assume Mike is a pretty good coach, but is he a great coach? When you have one of the best players ever to play the game, it is hard to
know for sure. Jokic makes everyone around him look so good. Did he make Mike look good, too?

Because Malone rubs a lot of people the wrong way, I think there is a risk factor in hiring him.

on reddit someone pulled a recent video of Malone after their loss to Portland where he was admonishing their players for not watching film.

i'm also reminded by a recent shaedon postgame interview where he repeatedly mentioned how much film he watches.

the contrast is stark.

maybe malone could be a good fit here if players are more receptive to his style.

Hmm, so Chauncey is getting his players to watch film, while Malone can't.....
Obviously, there is a lot more to coaching than just that, but I do think the Blazers players listen to Chauncey.

shaedon specifically said he watches with his trainer. not the coaching staff

It's a contract year. You know his agent is telling him all the right things to do and say.

I wouldn't expect the players to always watch film with the coaching staff. The fact that his trainer, Francis Kiapway, watches it with him is irrelevant. But he does seem to give him a lot of shout-outs.

But i think you answered your own question?

Mike wants Denver to watch film, but they dont. Sharpe watches alot of film under Billups.

One has the players doing what they need to do and one doesn't.

Do you know it was not Chauncey who got Shae to watch film with his trainer? I would imagine the trainers work closely with the coaching staff.
Im asking because I don't know.

I’d take Jenkins or Malone over Billups. CB kinda sucks imo.

I like the way Chauncey motivates and the systemic philosophies he espouses. I can't say that I've liked the way those philosophies have been executed in game.

I don't think Chauncey has had a roster that makes sense his entire time coaching here, so I'd like to see him get a chance with one that does. Joe just got re-upped and I'm really hoping he makes some moves to make next season's roster really cohesive.

All of that said, it would be really cool if we could get one of those two guys to come in here as really high paid assistants to Chauncey, maybe help Chauncey with execution and if Chauncey isn't getting the job done by Christmas we let him go and let the new assistant with more experience winning take over.

He’s a good coach, now keep in mind anyone who coaches Jokic is going to look like a good coach. My point is I think we’re a few years away from competing and by the time we get there good chance Malone would wear out his relationship with the players by then.
