Phillies calling up today their 3rd base prospect. PLEASE let it be the Yankees...

Proof that Young is on the Move

Phillies To Promote Asche; Young On The Move?
By Tim Dierkes [July 30, 2013 at 11:18am CST]

The latest on Phillies third baseman Michael Young:

The Phillies plan on calling up third baseman Cody Asche, tweets Yahoo's Jeff Passan. That points to Young being traded today, he adds. Asche, 23, is hitting .295/.352/.485 in 446 Triple-A plate appearances. Asche "should hit enough to have a regular big league role," wrote Baseball America before the season.

Sorry Jeter, I didn't see your post and I don't know how to delete it

A sure sign that he is moving, hope its to Yankees. JR20, I apologize for the duplicate post, I was posting a similar thread and then I saw yours, sorry

As I have said my deadline wish is Young, Morales and McCann but would settle for two out of three.

Joel Sherman says that Yankees have said if Young is traded it is NOT to them. Crap with a capital C....

Why would the Yankees address a long term need like 3B? Arod possibly gone forever and not a prospect in site…what is Cashman doing? Oh yeah, he's busy formulating a list of media jabs for Arod and his attorneys.

No worries I merged the threads so all the comments are in one.

I thought I heard somewhere that Young wouldn't play for the Yankees which is why the trade won't happen and not Cashman not doing anything... but I can't find it...

OK, I have mixed feeling on Young, but one thing is certain, first the mix feelings, It seems that Cashman is getting outwork again in our hour of need. But then, we don't have the assets to make a significant trade. What is worse, if the Red Soxs per say would obtain a guy like Stanton. Not saying it's going to happen, but all of these thoughts leads to Cashman's total ineptness and that I am certain of.

Looks like he will only waive no trade clause to go to the Rangers. So there goes one of my three. Triple Crap.

Really, its possible but I never heard of it.

It's hard to view the Yankees as a contender this year, tough division, plus the Arod circus makes the Yankees a team to avoid right now, sad reality.

1. After the way he was treated there by management, (the fans loved him) I'd be surprised if he goes back to Texas.

2. players have said before that they wouldn't play for the Yanx and changed their minds.

3. maybe the Yanx are being coy and not wanting to tip their hand too quickly and let their true intentions known. (they've done this before and swooped in at the last minute)

I'm not gonna sweat Young, he's just not a difference maker, sure NY can use him, they can use anybody, but again, Young is not a player to lose sleep over, if he agrees to come to NY and the Phillies will take a low prospect to save some money fine, we're happy to have a player who can hit some and pay the man for two months, otherwise no big deal.

...Young would be a huge upgrade over what the Yanx have and a huge increase over the production they've gotten from 3B this year.

...and he would be here for more than 2 months.

ok... http://blogs.mcall.com/phillies/ says "Ken Rosenthal is reporting that Young, who has a full no-trade clause, would only approve a trade back to the Rangers."

Also, I'm seeing "Young acknowledged Sunday that he will consider waiving his no-trade clause for the right circumstance, the Philadelphia Daily News reports." on http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb/player/Michael-Young/85387?q=Michael-Young

so I don't know which to believe...

Per MLB trade deadline show Young would only go to Texas. Amaro was interviewed after saying that was new to him, also stated that the Phillies would keep Lee and Utley. If, maybes, pehaps, and buts. Lot of stuff being spewed on the Phillies and Seattle talking Ibanez to TB, Morse to Boston, Morales to Baltimore yada yada yada.

From Jason Stark:

If Phillies can't trade Young to Texas or Boston, trade to Yankees is still a last-minute possibility. Stay tuned.

From Jon Heyman:

angels callaspo expected to be available. with yankees mike young's 3rd choice, maybe they'll take a look.

Young was not only in the Phillies lineup today but he hit his 8th HR vs the Giants.

...WAR?...lol...see, that's the problem I have with many stats as well as how and when they are used...can you seriously tell me that you don't believe that Young would be a huge upgrade over the production from the 3B position the Yanx have had this year?

Young .279 .345 .411 .756

Chris Nelson .243 .274 .306 .580

Youk .219 .305 .343 .648

Adams .198 .263 .278 .541

Cruz .182 .224 .200 .424

Gonzalez .176 .176 .206 .382

...I neither said nor implied that Young was infallible...only that he would be a huge upgrade over what the Yanx have had this year...and he would.

huge, I don't think so... upgrade, probably... but definitely not huge... only 8 HRs, yes, that is double what we have, but still not HUGE upgrade... only 34 RBIs... more SO than BB... I just don't see it as a HUGE upgrade...

and I never said that you said he was infallible... I just don't think he is as huge an upgrade as people think... and if he doesn't want to come here anyway, why put up with that?

...lol...an upgrade, but not a huge upgrade?...OK, whatever. If you choose not to acknowledge the difference, that's up to you.

...and I have no idea why you'd switch from WAR to RBIs and HRs to measure the difference.

Young ............. 279 .345 .411 .756 BB 36 SO 57

Yankees 3Bmen .215 .274 .286 .560 BB 22 SO 98

...and if he does end up in NY, that means he waived his NTC, which would mean that in fact, he DOES want to be here, no?

I really don't see him as a huge upgrade... there is a difference between an upgrade and a huge upgrade... Miguel Cabrera would be a HUGE upgrade... I really don't see Young as making too much of a difference. Besides, the Yankees would need to add a lot more pieces than just Young... and I don't see it happening...

Hammer with all due respect I'd have to agree with 59 here. Having Young would indeed be a huge upgrade.

Michael Young = 8HRs
Nix, Adams, Lillibridge (combined) 4 HRs

Michael Young = 34 rbi, The 3 (combined) 34 rbi

Michael Young = 279 average. The 3 (combined) 202 average

Michael Young = .345 OBP, The 3 (combined) .259 OBP

Michael Young = .411 SLG%, The 3 (combined) .266 SLG%

Michael Young = .756 OPS, The 3 (combined) .526 OPS

I would love love love to have Young on this team but I think he wants Rangers or Bust.
